Evan groaned and opened his eyes, sitting up from his previous laying-down position. His stomach felt like it had been teleported to the other side of the world and then put back in his body. Last he checked, he'd been at Á La Mode with Zoe, the two of them trying to get to know each other better over ice cream.

Then he'd blacked out, and now he was...

...in a room with several couches and a large T.V. screen, plus a coffee table? That didn't seem quite right.

Upon looking around the room more, he saw his "family friend," Jared Kleinman. His classmate and "acquaintance," Alana Beck. His... longtime crush and ex, I guess you could call her, Zoe Murphy.

Then a 5'1 Asian walked in. "Helloooo everybody!"

The others started to stir.

Evan simply looked at the stranger with a blank stare. "...Who are you?"

They giggled. "I'm Chloe! I'm gonna be your 'host' for I-don't-know-how-long-this-book-will-take! I'm also genderfluid, so they/them pronouns most of the time," they added.

Evan blinked and was about to say something before Jared, in his half-asleep state, said it for him.

"Wait, did you kidnap us?!"

"Haha, nope! You wish." Chloe smiled. "But I found you all in my imaginary home and while you were asleep for forever, I decided, 'why not make them watch the musical that's about themselves?' And here we are now."

"Wait wait wait. T-There's a musical? About us?" Evan questioned.

"Yeah. Specifically..." Chloe narrowed their eyes at him. "...the events that happened in the beginning of your senior year of high school."

Everyone in the room visibly winced.

"I didn't bring your parents because they have jobs back in wherever you live, it's not stated in the musical, and we're currently in California but I probably should bring Ghost Connor," Chloe noted. "And did I mention I tried to befriend him? It failed but at least we get along on better terms now."

Zoe glared at them.

Chloe crossed their arms. "Stop that. 'Least I'm not Miguel." They clapped their hands together once and Connor (or, rather, Ghost Connor) appeared.

Jared screamed at a higher pitch than you would've thought he could, Alana and Zoe gasped (Alana being shocked, Zoe just being surprised in general) and Evan nearly jumped.

"Did I mention, this house makes it so that you can see ghosts. So... yeah." Chloe waved at Connor.

"...Hey," Connor muttered to all of them and sat down on a couch.

"Any further questions?" Chloe asked.

Alana raised her hand. "Quick question, how emotional does this musical get?"

"On a scale of one to ten, a big ten. Shouldn't you know this? But anyways, brace yourselves," Chloe replied. "Anyways, let's get this musical started!"

Chloe clapped their hands twice and the screen lit up.

~~

How was that for a first chapter? This is the first time in forever that I've tried to write something properly and I might actually complete this book.

Don't be a silent reader, vote and comment! I'd love to hear what you think of this chapter.

I'm also going to try my best to make the characters seem as accurate as possible. I'm armed with the script and the novel and I'm ready to write some angsty teenagers, y'all!

Love,
Chloe
