The sidewalk illuminated in front of me, from billions of glowing lights, but it still, somehow it seemed eerie, like something or someone, was there. Maybe it was the dark sky above or the news I had received hours earlier, but it all felt unsettling. I took slow, lengthy steps, making sure I was still behind, but not too much and that I could see her beautiful long brown hair ahead of me.

Be careful. I repeated the words said long ago to me. This is a fragile one. Take good care of her and you will be rewarded, fail to do so, and you're dead, you hear me?

I nodded, even though it was only a memory, a warning from before.

The girl turned suddenly, smiling at me with her light, teal eyes that glimmered like jewels in the moonlight. She fell behind the group, the group that I was never really part of, even an outcast too, and linked her arm with mine. She told me stories from her past, her childhood. Stories that brought smiles to my lips and skips in my heart.

As we walked together, under what little moon there was, the words said to me long ago replayed in my mind. At every smile, she gave me, every glance I heard vividly,

Be careful. Take care. Or you're dead.
