Chapter 10

“Are you really not going to answer the door? You are like 7 feet away! Could you not get off the couch and see who is at the door?” I complained as I trudged out of my bedroom.

“But I’m watching T.V.” Tyler said, as if I should have already known that.

“Jesus child, you are so lazy..” I mumbled whilst opening the door.

I took one look at who was at the door and slammed the door in their face.

“You know, it’s rude to slam the door in people’s faces Anne.” Tyler said, not taking his eyes off the TV.

The knocking at the door returned. I rolled my eyes and went to sit down on the island in the kitchen.

“Are you seriously not going to answer the door?” Tyler griped as he went to answer the door.

“Hi, I’m here to see Anne.” I heard Bradley say politely.

“I don’t know why anyone would want to see her but go ahead.” Tyler said, stepping out of the way.

Bradley sauntered in like he owned the place. He sat beside me and smiled.

“Why are you here?” I asked.

“Well aren’t you a ray of sunshine.” Bradley snorted.

“Just tell me what you want.” I sighed. Tyler jogged back to his room to do God knows what.

“I wanted to see if we could get together later so I could make it up to you for being such a jerk.”

“How about no.”

“C’mon Annie, I really want to make it up to you,” Bradley scooted closer and put his hand on my thigh. “You can’t say that you don’t still have feelings for me.”

“One, I don’t have feelings for you. At all. If I do this, will you leave me alone for good?”

“Yes, I swear!” Bradley jumped up.

--

“Do you really have to go tonight?” Dylan whined from my bed. I sat the pile of clothes down that I was holding and plopped down on the bed beside him.

“If you want Bradley to leave me alone I have to.” I said.

“Hm, fine.” Dylan sighed.

I leaned in and kissed his soft lips.

He groaned and squeezed his eyes shut. “You should be with me tonight, not him.”

“Why don’t you hang out with the guys tonight? We hang out almost every night.” I reasoned.

“Yeah dude!” Tyler yelled from the living room.

“I guess I’ll just do that.” Dylan settled.

“Good.” I said, as I kissed him.

--

“So, you and that guy..what’s his name? Dalton?” Bradley started.

“It’s Dylan.” I corrected.

“Dylan. You and Dylan…are you two serious?” Bradley asked.

“Yeah, I guess…no offense but, I haven’t felt this way before with anybody. He treats me like a queen.” I blushed. It was dark out here so Bradley couldn’t see me blush as I talked about Dylan.

We were walking down the sidewalk from the restaurant in downtown Atlanta. Dinner was good, I guess. Bradley apologized for everything he had done to me, I reluctantly accepted his apology and informed him I was over it.

We stopped in front of a dimly lit ally and he said, “Wait here for a second.” I nodded in response as he jogged in the direction we had come from. He went inside of a store I wasn’t familiar with.

Being out here alone, in the dark, in the middle of a city made me slightly nervous.

My head shot over to the allyway as I heard rustling coming from behind one of the dumpsters. Me being my dumb self, decided to go investigate. I cautiously walked down the ally.

I approached the dumpster as a figure popped up. I screamed as loud as I could, and tried to run away. The figure grabbed my arm as I desperately tried to escape.

“ANNE. Anne! Stop trying to escape, its me. Bradley!”

I stopped wriggling and looked at the figure. It was Bradley.

I slapped him across the face and said, “What the hell! You asshole!”

I crossed my arms and walked away. When I was out of the ally and halfway down the street, Bradley ran up beside me and grabbed my shoulder.

“I’m sorry, Anne. Look, I even got you a rose! I didn’t think you would get as scared as you did.” Bradley apologized.

“Whatever, just take me home.” I shrugged.

--

“I’ll walk you to your door.” Bradley started to unbuckle his seatbelt.

“Um, can you not?” I said, not wanting to be with him for one more moment.

“Just let me.” He insisted. I gave up, honestly all I wanted to do right now was relax with my friends. More specifically, Dylan.

We sat in silence until we got off the elevator to my floor.

“I’m really sorry, Anne. For everything.” Bradley said sincerely.

“It’s fine. Thanks for dinner. Have a nice flight.” I said, while grabbing my keys out of my purse to the apartment.

“Anne.” Bradley grabbed my elbow and pulled me back. He looked me straight in the eyes. When I looked into his blue eyes, all I could think about was Dylan’s big, brown ones.

He started to lean into kiss me, but before he could, the apartment door swung open.

There stood 3 of my best friends. Tyler, Colton, and Dylan.

“Yeah, don’t try to kiss my girlfriend.” Dylan said as Tyler and Colton pulled me into the apartment.
