If there was one thing that Harry and Melody loved, it was that Krinos can be terrifying when he wants to be.
When the trio had gotten back to school, it seemed that the Daily Prophet had published a story of Lockhart's trial. They guessed that Olivia had threatened them as well because there was not a single lie in the story at all. They took a vote and that girl was now their favorite member of the family.
But since the truth about Lockhart came out, the students flocked to them, trying to get the inside scoop about every detail of the trial. The Prophet only had a story saying that he was truly guilty with quotes of his truth spell forced confession.
Krinos, of course, let loose that they had all they needed to know, they Lockhart was guilty. He shouted that they did not need every detail and if they kept trying to pester them, it would not end well for them. He held a bowl of mashed potatoes in each hand just to tell how serious he was. That sent students running in every direction. Fred and George bowed at his feet in a joking way saying silly things like "teach us how to make people run from us, o' wise one."
The older students actually were very happy to see Lockhart gone. Cedric had personally thanked the trio because now they could get a real Defense professor before his OWL year that was happening the next year. Oliver certainly agreed with the Hufflepuff, even though he took his own OWLs the year before. Percy was of the same opinion, shocking his twin brothers since he usually has the most respect anyone could have for people in positions of authority.
The only ones that seemed to be upset were the Gryffindor Harpy, Human Garbage Disposal, and Slytherin Peacock. Most of the students were starting to be able to tune them out at this point, but they were still annoying.
Granger seemed to believe that there was some type of conspiracy against Lockhart. She would constantly rant about there being no way that he was guilty and it was impossible for any spell to make him say such "lies." She was of the mind that there was no such thing as a truth spell "because she never read about one." Malfoy was upset over there is another thing that they did better than him. Politics. He was raised to think that he had all this power and would be a lord and unstoppable in the world of politics. Except that the trio outsmarted and outplayed every English magical lord and lady. And the Greek politicians were definitely not afraid of them in the least. Weasley hates that now instead of just acting out stupid things in Lockhart's books, they were now going to have to do actual work when they get a real teacher. He was about as lazy as a person can be and he hated that he would now have to do more school work.
Since it was going to be Yule/Christmas break soon, Dumbledore did have time to find a proper Defense professor. But in the meantime, he was teaching the class himself. The trio noticed that he was very comfortable at the front of a classroom, probably bringing back good memories of when he was just a teacher instead of the headmaster. Some of the more idiotic Gryffindors *Cough* Ron Weasley *Cough* believed that he would favor his old house, but Dumbledore treated everyone the same. Even if he spoke more fondly to those like the trio. He didn't favor anyone but did seem to pick the students that had always displayed the best behavior in the past.
"Yule time once again," Melody lounged in an alcove they found in the back of the library.
"How is it that we were just home two weeks ago, yet I am still happy to be going home," Harry asked, chuckling.
"Because it's home, Harry," Krinos snickered. "When you act like that, then you know the place you are happy to be going to is home."
"We do also have to take the midterm exams at Crystal Rose," Melody reminded.
