Did Martha call the police? Did the criminal leave? What happened? Her stomach did a few more flips, something wasn't right... but for some reason, she didn't trust that Martha stayed. Would she leave a defenseless 6 year old? That, Makenzie didn't know.
"Martha..." she whispered to herself, pressing her ear up to the bathroom door, hopefully she'd hear something... but to her dismay, she didn't. The house was silent. Her hands trembled as she slowly opened the bathroom door, nothing.
She made her way to the stairway, not seeing or hearing anything. She made it to the living room, the t.v was turned off, Martha's phone and Martha herself were nowhere to be seen. Makenzie held herself as she peaked around corners, a few tears falling from her face.
Martha stood there after she heard the cream behind her and she clutched the phone to her chest and let a few tear drops fall onto her pale cheeks. Everything she ever knew felt like it all played back onto her glossy eyes. A quick breath escaped her lips as she was quickly pulled.
Makenzie peered over the corner of the stairway seeing no one in sight tears escaping her eyes like a waterfall, all she saw was blurring images as the tears built up in her eyes. She wiped her eyes and bit her lip to prevent anything from escaping her mouth as she cried. She finally spoke in a shaky tone "M-Martha?". She began to walk into the living room until she stopped seeing the basement door wide open
She walked through the living room, nothing, and turned to the kitchen.. there was a tall figure standing there, seemingly motionless, just staring back at Makenzie. A loud gasp escaped her as she dashed to her room.
She slammed her bedroom door behind her and jumped into her bed, throwing her covers over her head. She started sobbing, her entire body shaking beyond panic. Though she was crying, she could still hear the heavy footsteps approaching her room. They stopped at her door, she heard a man chuckle on the other side.
"Makenzie, hunny, come here.." he said menacingly, yet, smoothly. Makenzie held her breath and peaked her head over the covers, pure terror emanating from her glossy eyes. She felt chills run down her back and her eyes widened. The doorknob was turning... a long and cold hand clasped over Makenzie's mouth and muffled her cry. She was pulled underneath the bed, staring right into his face. The monster her parents never believed in, the monster they never saw... the monster under her bed. He motioned for her silence as he turned his lean figure to better look at the door from their position. The door creaked as it opened, the criminal stepping inside.
Makenzie sat there once afraid of the monster under her bed now seeing with her own eyes that monster is now helping her. The criminal stood there and chuckled once more, "Makenzie please come out I don't want to hurt you". The monster stared at the criminals feet just waiting until that fool takes one more step he will regret it. The criminal walked over to the closet and opened it moving clothing around. "Come on Makenzie stop hiding you little brat" he spoke in a harsh voice. And stomped over to the only other item she could hide in, the bed.
Makenzie suddenly opens her eyes and unplugs her ears to the sounds of sirens echoing from outside, she sits up and uncovers her head and looks around for the monster as well as the criminal. The criminal lies on the ground motionless but clearly still alive, Makenzie sees a red substance on his cheeks but quickly looks away. A loud bang downstairs startles her as she hears "Police!!" She stays quiet and confused on to what had previously happened. Loud footsteps come up the stairs and start opening all doors, they got to her door and they quickly busted in the door, bright flash lights and handguns pointed in the room at Makenzie and then at the man. A police officer rushed over to her and asks if she's okay and she simply shrugs. The other policemen the unconscious man and carry him down the stairs. Makenzie is taken downstairs as well holding onto the policeman's hand and once she sees her crying parents she rushes over to them squeezing them both "Are you okay?! Are you hurt sweetie?", "We are so sorry this all happen, Martha told us everything" they briefly look up to see Martha staring at the wall petrified at what had just happened to her. Then their attention dawns back onto Makenzie and they continue to hug the life out of her while she wonders what happen to the monster under her bed.
