I know the curtains are open because I can feel the sun on my eyes. I also know I'm naked under the sheets because sleeping with and without clothes on are two very different feelings.
The room is empty, but I can hear the shower running inside the bathroom and I know Carter is inside. But I don't know where my clothes are, or his, so I grab the sheets and use it cover to myself. My head's hurting, and I see the aspirin on the side table along with a bottle of water so I swallow two.
We're in a hotel room, and I don't really remember which one. But I remember that Michael left me at our wedding yesterday and I ended up drinking and sleeping with Carter.
Michael.
Jumping quickly on my feet, I flip the pillows around in search for my purse, but it's not there. I check the table by the window, and I see it. I fish out my phone, and two rings fall on the floor. It's my engagement ring, and what looks like Carter's wedding ring. I shove them back to my purse and check my phone.
Nothing.
Well nothing from Michael that is. Bastard.
I have a few texts and they're from Rose, Carrie, and my mother- all checking up on me. I send a quick reply that I'm alright.
"Anything from your ex lover?" a voice comes from behind me and I jump a bit. I turn to see Carter in nothing but a towel hanging dangerously low on his hips. Just a few more inches down and...
"Nothing from him." I quickly snap my attention from his towel to his face. His hair is wet and it's dripping on his shoulders. And I like my view right now. "Just a few texts asking me how I'm holding up."
Carter smirks at me, and I blush and look away. I know what he's thinking- I held up pretty good, good enough that I actually had mind blowing sex three times within eighteen hours after finding out I wasn't walking down the aisle.
"Where are my clothes?" I ask and look around, pulling the sheets closer to me.
"I had them washed." he says and takes a seat in front of me. "Room service promised me they'll have it back within four hours. We'll have clothes two hours from now."
"You gave them everything?" I ask, mortified. My lingerie!
As if he read my mind, Carter says, "Everything. They apparently hand wash items that need it, including your lingerie which I must say, I love seeing on you but not as much when it's on the floor."
I grimace at the thought of someone else washing my underwear, but also blush terribly at his words.
At least my lingerie didn't go to waste. Someone enjoyed them.
"What time is it?" I ask, but I check my phone anyway. It's nine.
"Nine." he shrugs and tilts his head to the side. "Are you late for work or an appointment?"
I shake my head. "I don't have work on Sundays, and I filed for a day off tomorrow because I thought I would be busy with him."
"The asshole." he finishes for me and I laugh at his choice of adjective. "What a coincidence, I'm free until tomorrow too."
I'm not sure if he's thinking what I'm thinking, but I'm thinking of spending all the time we both have left together, until work. I'm not yet ready to face the people I know, and I don't want to be around them right now either.
"What do you say to another night together?" he asks and smirks at me, making me blush again. "We can spend today and tomorrow together. I don't really feel like going home yet."
