Chapter 10: Ladies day out

I was awakened by "Shake it off", my ringtone. It was my mom.

"Hi Mom",I greeted with my you-just interrupted-my-sleep-so-hurry-up-and let-me-get-back-to-bed voice.

"Hello dear. I'm at work and I'll be back by 5:30. There's some food in the fridge,you can microwave it as lunch or just cook what you want with whatever's available in the kitchen."

"Okay, thanks Mom"

"Bye Ally"

"Have a good day at work"

"Thanks dear"

She hanged up and I checked the time. It was 10am. Wow,I really do love to sleep. I got my lazy butt of the bed and went to freshen up. Then I went downstairs to get myself some breakfast. I  sat on the couch with my bowl of Cheerios and tuned the TV to Netflix. After a while,I got bored and decided to call Jenny.

"Hey Ally",she said immediately she picked up. It sounded like she was as bored as I was,"What's up?"

"Nothing much,just bored"

"Me too",she laughed,"Want me to come over?"

"That'll be great."

"Nice,I'll be there in ten minutes".

"See ya",she hanged up.

True to her word,she was here in less than ten minutes.

"You drive fast",I told her as I opened the door. She just giggled. "Come in"

We went upstairs to my bedroom and talked about random things. When it was 12:30,I started to get hungry. I could tell Jenny was too from the growl that came from her stomach.

"I'm hungry",she admitted.

"Me too."

"What should we eat?"

"There's rice in the fridge but I was thinking Mac and cheese"

"Cool,I'd love Mac and cheese too."

"Macaroni and cheese it is"

After eating,Jenny helped me with the dishes. After,we watched Cartoon Network.

"Let's go get ice cream", Jenny suggested

"Who eats ice cream in November?"

"Oh come on, it'll be fun."

That did sound like fun. After all,who am I to say no to ice cream. "Fine, let's go"

The ice cream shop wasn't full as it was cold out but there was a crowd. Who knew people loved getting ice cream in winter? Not me.
Jennifer ordered vanilla and strawberry mix and I took cookie dough. I have to admit,it was really nice getting brain freezes. When we got back home,it was almost four. We watched Netflix and I think we both fell asleep because the next thing I heard was the doorbell.

"Hey Mom"

"Hi sweetie"

"How was your day?"

"It was ok, yours?"

"Good"

"Okay. I'm so tired so I'm going to my room to rest. Oh hi, Jennifer."

"Good evening, Mrs Astley"

"How're you doing,dear?"

"I'm fine."

"That's okay. I'll be upstairs if you need me."

"Yes Mom"

"Ally, it's getting late. I better head home." She was right,it was almost 6pm.

"Yeah, you should."I walked with her to her car.

"Thanks for coming over, you made my day, Jennifer."

"What are friends for?",I smiled

"Bye,see you on Monday."

"Bye, Ally. I'll text you."I went inside and started working on dinner.
