I was awaken by someone violently shaking me, I saw a blurry figure above me, only to see a small little girl on top of me, I noticed that it wasn't Mateo and was a little startled by the child on top of me.
"Are you Mateo's mum?" The child on top of me said crying in my shoulder, I rubbed her back trying to calm her down warily. I nodded my head slowly,
"It depends who asking, if he did something I don't know him."
She cried into my shoulders even more, I looked around the room to see Aubrey and Mateo no where to be seen. Jeez where's this kids mother?
"He's being a meany to me, he broke my heart and told me he would never like a girl like me." Her tears got even more stronger to the point, it was as if she was crying a waterfall. I stopped rubbing her back for a second and looked her dead in the eyes. I brought her into my chest and hugged her closely. I hummed a melody in her ears, trying to get her to stop crying.
"Don't worry, Uh you see Mateo is just a big meany...he doesn't understand nor appreciate us girls just like his father. Don't cry over him sweetie."
I picked her off the bed with me and brought her into the bathroom, I sat her down on the counter as I searched for a spare toothbrush. I heard her wails slowly stop,
"So what's you name anyways?"
"Mina..."
"A Beautiful name for a beautiful girl." I gave a her a warm smile and continued to find a spare toothbrush, darn where does he even keep it. I heard her giggle in response. Finally I found a toothbrush and started to brush my teeth. I glanced down at Mina to see her staring at me smiling, I spat out the toothpaste and rinsed my mouth.
I wet a cloth and brought it towards Mina's face,
"Do you mind if I clean your face?"
I wiped her face her clear porcelian skin now that was now shining with no tear streaks to be seen. I took her off the counter and put her on the floor gentley and held her hand. I brought her into the roomand put her down the bed,i walked towards the wardrobe to see what aubrey had in his closet. I picked out a black plain top with basketball shorts and a pair of sockets. I changed in the closet quickly and saw Mina waiting for me on the bed paitently. I picked her off the bed and put her in my arms,
"Do you know where Aubrey is?"
"He went out with my papa on a job i think" I rolled my eyes at Aubrey and her father, leaving her carelessly alone with a house with criminals.I slapped myself mentally now realising that Mateo is all by himself.I ran towards the door with Mina in my arms and ran down the halls checking each room. I heard Mateo's voice coming from a busy room. I saw him being lifted up by a bunch of men. Mateo's eyes drifted to me but slowly saw mina in my arms, I saw anger take over his face, he started to struggle in the arms of the man that was holding him and made his way other to us.
"Get off my mummy!"
He started to hit Mina's legs making her wince, I was surprised my Mateo's actions and how he was acting towards Mina,
"Get off her, ill kill yo-"
Before he could even finish his sentence, I slapped him across the face, I shook my head at Mateo and saw him crying on the floor. Mateo quickly carried himself off the floor and left the room with tears in his eyes.
"I hate you!"
I sighed at him and saw everyone looking at me, I didn't say anything and just left the room silently. I went back upstairs with Mina still in my arms and went into bedroom and plopped me and mina onto the bed. I closed my eyes and quickly as darkness.
Yet agin I was awaken by someone shaking me, I fluttered my eyes to see an angry Aubrey. I closed my eyes again ignoring him wanting to go back to bed.
"What is this I hear about you slapping Mateo Natalie?"
I opened one eye to see Aubrey over me looking at me angrily.I rolled my eyes mentally and got up,
"He was being a brat and I wasn't going to allow him tp threaten to kill a poor innocence little girl. He probably got this mind set from you about killing people and I do not like it .He then says he hates me for what reason? I wasn't going to allow him to speak to me in such a manor."
A memory flashes back in my head when Aubrey's family came to meet Mateo for the first time,
"Hey Aubrey, uh do you remember your dad, the oneyousaidwasamurderer and likewasbeing a hypocrite?
Aubrey looked me understanding what I was saying, he sighed at the comment, brushing his fingers through is hair,
"That's different."
I was taken aback from his statement, different how? How is it different if you unmercifully kill people,
"But you see,-"
"He killed someone that was once close to me, he did it for his own pleasure,to see me suffer. I'm even disgusted to be related to someone as wicked as him. That one time, he tried to hurt you and Mateo" He fists clenched into a tight ball" I wanted to see him covered in blood head to toe. I wanted to be covered in his blood..."
I sat there, uncomfortably hearing what Aubrey was saying. He noticed how I was feeling and changed his whole demeanor quickly.He brushed his hands past mine and clasped his hands in mine and looked deeply into my eyes,
"You know ill never hurt you, right?"
If only he knew, he had already hurt me many times before.
