Chapter 5: Almost 10pm
--xx--
It’s 9:52Pm and Ryan should be here soon…
I just have to figure out how to escape. Maybe I could jump out the window? Nah… That’s way too main stream. Instead I walk, ever so slowly towards the front door and walk outside. I check my phone and it’s about 9:54. Just as I look up, I see Ryan’s car pull up. I run towards his car and hop in. When I closed the door I yell
“Quick! Drive before someone realises I’m gone.” He steps on the pedal and races away from my street.
“Okay so what are we going to do over at Nathans?” I ask.
“I’m actually not certain but I can assure you that alcohol will be involved.” he wiggled his eye brows.
“Oh…”
“Oh? Is that all you have to say?”
“Well I thought that English people drink tea and stuff…” I joked.
He placed his hand over his heart as if it hurt his feelings. “English people really know how to party.”
“Oh really?” I challenge.
“Yes, really! When we get to Nathans you’ll see what a real party is like.”
When we arrive to this so called ‘party’ there was no music blasting, no cliché red cups and no one making out in the halls. I turned to Ryan, lifted a brow at him and said the next sentence dripping in sarcasm. “Ohhh… This is a real party, aye?”
“Umm… I guess not.” He replied shyly.
We walked into Nathans apartment because he never locks the door and there he was sitting on the couch playing Mario cart with Zac and Connor.
Zac trying to act all macho-man saying things like ‘Mairo is going to kick your ass’ with a quick reply back from Nathan, on the lines of ‘You underestimate Luigi.’ And in the background was Connor ‘back seat driving’ yelling commands at Zac and Nathan like ‘don’t drive on the grass it slows you down’ and ‘Concentrate on the road, you don’t want to crash!’
I cough loudly and mutter “Nerds.”
They all turn around and yell “Jess, you made it.”
Connor walks over to the Wii and turns it off before smirking. “We can start the real party now.”
I gulp as they get hidden alcohol from behind the cushions. Bottles of Red wine, Whiskey, Midori and Vodka were all placed on the living room coffee table with small shot glasses next to them.
Ryan raises his voice to speak. “See Jess, British people do know how to party. I knew you guys wouldn’t let me down.” He fist bumps the air and has this huge, childish smile on his lips.
“Let’s play Never Have I Ever, all in favour say I.” Nathan announced loudly.
Everyone said a cheerful I except for me.
“I think I’ll pass…” I suggested but Nathan can’t take no for an answer.
“Come on Jess, live a little would you! You’re meant to be Australian. They wrestle crocs and stuff, do you?”
I was about to deny that all Aussies tackle crocodiles and that only Steve Erwin ever did that sort of thing but I was rudely interrupted.
“So what do you say Jessica?”
I signed and nodded my head in agreement.
He grabs my hand and pulls it into the air “Tonight Jess is going to party like English men!”
The boys cheer and yell back “’Course she is!”
“And she will have loads of fun.” Nathan stresses the word will a little too much for my liking.
The boys yell back “’Course she will”
And then Nathan pulls me up onto the coffee table and we both stand up there with my arm raised and Nathan keeping a tight grip on my wrist so it stays up there.
“And we will party like animals.”
They respond with an almost robotic tone “Yes. We. Will.”
“Come on guys put a little more effort into it. We will party like animals.” He growls.
“Yeah. We. Will.” They yell almost shaking the whole apartment.
Nathan shocks me by throwng me off the table but luckily Connor catches me.
“Dude, a little less enthusiasm might save lives…”
“Yeah Nathan! No need to throw me like a rag doll.”
----Time Skip----
I’m pretty sure I am the only one still sober here. The guys are giggling at the smallest of things.
“D-duuuude, you look like my mum..” Zac slurs while everyone else laughs. But I don’t think its funny at all.
“Shut up Zac I’m not your mother. And Ryan, get off the table! Red Bull does not give you wings.”
They are all acting like babies so I decided that I was going to leave.
“Alrighty guys, I’m going to go now. Bye!”
I call a cab and go home. But when I get there it’s not what I expected at all.
There are three police cars surrounding my house, my mum in her slippers and pyjamas, crying to the police officer while the police officer was jotting down notes. As I got closer I asked what was going on and my mum looked over to my direction and gasping.
“Oh my goodness! Jessica, where the hell where you? I was going to start a search party for you because you weren’t home! Don’t scare me like that ever again, got it?” She ran over to me and gave me a massive hug.
“I was at Nathans house…” I whispered.
“I told you not to go!” She yelled, totally forgetting the cops were right behind us unitl he coughed getting her attention right away.
“Oh, sorry. I guess she isn’t lost after all. My bad…” She blushed from embarrassment.
