The conference room in the main house was filled with the sound of shuffling of papers. All eight of the council members were present. At the head of the table, Zane sat, speed reading through the stack of papers in front of him. To his right sat Elvira, Zane's grandmother, a veteran to these meetings and one of his most trusted advisors. She was adjusting her glasses and whispering something to Miriam who sat beside her. Noah, one of the Delta's who had been put in charge of trade, was sitting quietly lost in thought.
Across the table to Zane's left, Blaze, one of the Betas, was staring blankly at the paper in front of him. To his left sat the omega sisters, Tyra and Athena, infamous for keeping their borders tight and safe. He'd been reading first hand accounts in dozens of reports in the last week. Seeing the words after the little number one on the paper in front of him enraged him so much that his wolf howled to be let free.
They need to pay for what they have done. His wolf growled.
He ran his fingers through his shoulder length hair and slammed his hand down on the table harder than he'd intended to, drawing every eye in the room.
"Ryker," Zane growled. "Would you care to begin?"
His wolf was close to the edge which just served to enrage him more. He sat for a moment in the stunned silence that followed and fought the urge to shift right there. His hands were visibly shaking. It hadn't been a good morning to begin with and the stress of a possible war was likely to send him into a frenzy. He needed a good, long run after this meeting.
"Skip the first one," Zane spat quickly, adjusting his position in his chair. "Start from the second."
Ryker nodded and gestured at Noah. "First topic would be the Annual Spring Formal..."
