Ϟ Chapter 2 ϟ

"My whole life is about me having a second chance" - Two Chainz

It was exactly one week after the death of the girl's parents. You might be thinking now, who was that little girl? Who was the murderer? Well let me answer that now. The little girl is Lucinda Mae Webb, daughter of Mrs Haley Webb and Mr Mike Webb. She was 7 when she watched her parents die by the hands of a heartless murder, But who was the murderer? I'm afraid that answer will have to come later on through our tale but for now let's look into the world of Miss Lucinda Webb.

March 10th 1967 - One week after the murder

Loneliness.

The meaning of being sad when you are alone.

That's what Lucinda Webb felt at this very moment when was she staring out the window in her new home. Her Aunt's cottage in Spinners End, Crokeworth. She could see her old home over the hill, past Old Man's Creek. How badly she wanted to be back in her old room, in her old house, with her parents.

Raindrops were falling down the glass, each droplet falling at different speeds. With a sigh Lucinda looked back to her bedside table where a picture of her and her parents sat. She was 4 at the time and they couldn't of looked any happier. 'I miss them. So much' She thought as she looked back out the window.

Lucinda's Aunt, Mary, knocked on the white door of her niece's room.

"Lu, dinners ready darling. Do you want to come down?" Mary was heartbroken after she found out her brother and sister-in-law was murdered but felt relief when she heard her niece lived. Mary was the exact opposite of her brother in appearance but twins in personality. She has striking blonde hair from her father and blue eyes from her mother. She's pale but a short woman. She's incredibly kind and understanding just like her brother was. When Albus Dumbledore, a wizard known for his long grey beard and a twinkle in his eyes, had come to her asking to house the now parentless girl. She of course agreed immediately, whilst trying to hold back a sob. She wished she could of done something to help, but what could a squib have done?

During the time of Lucinda's stay, she barely spoke, ate or smiled. Constantly, Mary tried getting her to eat at least an apple for an afternoon snack but she would just ignore it.

Lucinda shook her head, still looking out the window. Mary sighed out of both frustration and sympathy. "Lu, they wouldn't want you doing this to yourself. It hurts, I know it does sweetie, but think how disappointed they would be if-" Mary didn't get to finish when Lucinda suddenly stood up out of anger when she mentioned 'them'.

Lucinda glared down at the woman- whom was the only family she had left. Mary was taken aback by the glare and straightened herself. "Now don't look at me like that young lady. Just because your upset doesn't mean you get to behave like this". This made Lucinda even angrier. She was to busy glaring at her to notice the picture of her and her parents floating in mid-air, however Mary saw it clear as day. Her eyes widened and her mouth opened to make an 'O' shape.

The frame then threw its self towards the too shocked Aunt. 'Sh-she's just like him! A wizard!' she thought this as Lucinda snapped out of her glare and look terrified and shocked. "Lucinda?" Mary asked in a tremble.

Lucinda took one fleeting look at her Aunt on the ground; with glass everywhere from the frame and ran out of the room. She stopped just in time to not crash into the front door before opening it and running out into the rain.

With her clothes soaked, mud on her feet and raindrops falling down her face from her hair, Lucinda ran away from the cottage down to Old Mans Creek. She never once looked back to see if her Aunt would run out to stop her but she knew she wouldn't.

Once she reached the creek, she could see her old house only a few blocks away but she knew she wouldn't be able to pass the creek safely. She looked back the way she came and started to cry. With tears streaming down her face, she saw a large oak tree and ran over to it. She sat down on one of the large roots with her knees to her chest and head on top, and cried her heart out.

She was too busy sobbing to notice a pale boy with greasy black hair up to his chin and a crooked nose watching her from inside the tree trunk. There was a giant man made hole at the base, made by some teenage troublemakers years ago, and was able to hold someone small like him and obscure him from his bullies.

He walked out, a curious look on his face, and made his way to the crying girl. He was right behind her when he spoke "Are you okay?" Lucinda, spooked, jumped up and turned around to see a boy around her age. She stared at him and shrugged her shoulders.

The boy frowned. "Do you talk?" Taken aback by the blunt question, she raised her eyebrows at him. "S-sorry, its just-"

"Yes I do talk" her voice croaky from the lack of use. She had no idea why she would answer him when she couldn't even answer her own bloody Aunt. But he felt comforting to her, friendly even. Her mother always commented how alike her and her father were. They could see how good someone is by just one glance at them, even if the person couldn't see the good in them themselves.

"Good...That's great, would have been a bit...awkward if you...didn't" The boy rubbed his neck and looked down, trying to hide his flushed cheeks.

Lucinda, having caught his embarrassment, giggled for the first time in a while. The boy looked up and smiled, eventually joining in by laughing as well.

"I'm Lucinda. Lucinda Mae Webb" She held out her hand to the young boy.

"Snape. Severus Snape". He clasped his hand around hers and shook.

"Well Severus, I think we are going to be good friends, do you agree?" She smiled and let go of his hand.

Severus answered with a sharp nod and a small smile.
