Ϟ Chapter 3 Ϟ

"Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

*Few years later*

Ever since that day Lucinda and Severus met, they have been unseperable. They did everything together, whether it's reading their favourite book together; meeting at their secret place - which happened to be the tree they first met at, or they would simply sit on the swings at the near by muggle park and just talk. They were never bored of eachother, they knew everything about eachother and didn't judge. It's safe to say they're best friends.

When Lucinda went back to her aunt, she was a nervous wreck. Now that she knew what or should we say who she was, she was scared that her aunt would hate her. She didn't mean to do what she did, she didn't understand it at all. Severus had explained to her all about what she could do with magic and how she could learn at a magic school called Hogwarts. Lucinda was very excited when she found out about Hogwarts but was however dishearten that you had to wait til you were 11 years of age and had to be accepted in, even though it was only a few more months until she turned 11. She was still eager and nervous to go, but Severus however assured her that she would get accepted.

"Severus.."

Severus looked up from his book, The tales of Beadle the Bard, when he heard his name was called. He noticed that Lucinda hadn't called him by 'Sev' like she had done for a while now.

"Yes, Lucinda?"

Severus took this moment to look at her. He noticed that his friend looked...frightened. What was she frightened about? He had no idea.

"Will you still be my friend? At Hogwarts I mean? You won't ditch me if we get into different houses?"

Severus didn't answer. He too thought about what would happen if they didn't get into the same house. He had a gut feeling he would get into Slytherin though, but Lucinda? He didn't know.

"I-"

He was cut off by a shrill voice "FREAK!". The two young friends looked towards the source of noise and noticed two girls, both looked to be the same age as them, running towards this tree. They hadn't noticed each-other so Lucinda and Severus ran to hide, Lucinda behind a bush and Severus in the hole of the tree. He made a signal to be quiet and whispered 'I will tell you when it's ok to come out'.

The first girl they noticed had bright red hair and beautiful green eyes. She was upset. You could tell by the look on her face, she seemed to be running away from the brown haired girl. The one that keeps on calling the poor girl a freak.

"Come back here Lily! Just wait 'til I tell mummy!"

They both stopped in front of the tree. The red headed girl, Lily, turned around to face her company.

"Please Petunia, please stop"

Lily tried and tried to get her sister to stop but it was no use. All she wanted to do was show her sister a magic trick she figured out but she was made fun of by her own sister.

"Your a freak Lily Evans. A comple-"

Petunia Evans stopped mid-sentence. She looked over her sisters shoulder to see a boy with black hair and an annoyed facial expression. She was frightened. 'I bet he's one of them. A freak!' She thought and ran away.

Lily turned to see who saved her from further ridicule. She smiled in gratitude at the boy and he returned it.

"I'm Severus Snape. Pleased to meet you"

She grabbed his outstretched hand and giggled, introducing herself.

"Come on, let me show you something"

Lily grabbed Severus' hand and ran to the flower field where she showed her sister a magic trick.

Lucinda got up from her hiding place. A number of emotions in her chest. Confusion, forgotten and...jealousy?

She didn't know.

All she knew that Severus had left her there to be with Lily Evans.

And she was not happy about it.
