During the ambush of stories tumbling all over the book store, the night begun to shine as Levi and Petra were with each other once again, alone playing UNO on the couch.
"Urg I keep losing! You're too good at this Levi!" Petra shrieked, smashing her playing cards on the sofa in defeat. Levi just let out a chuckle, finding it funny too see how frustrated Petra was but he soon became more anxious about (y/n) not being home from work, worried something bad had happened to her.
"Petra, could you maybe call (y/n)-"
Levi was instantly cut off by Petra smashing her lips on his, wanting to taste how her captain was as she jumped on top of him. Levi eyes widened, in shock from her passionate kiss, he tried to resist but his eyes fell as he leaned more into her offer as he wrapped is arms around Petra's waist, wanting to see if their spark would still ignite, but...
"H-how could you..."
(Y/n) just stood there in disbelief, gloomy clouds cried out of vain as she couldn't shed anymore tears anymore. She didn't feel a sadness but she felt cold, shattered and small...
Levi immediately shoved Petra from his embrace, jumping from his position, drunk from the expression plastered on (y/n)'s face, he stumbled towards her as he felt a rage of fear for the first time.
He watched a foreign darkness veil over (y/n) as a crippled dread managed to escape her mouth, allowing her to say the words he never thought she'd say once again.
"I...I Trusted you, Levi Ackerman..."
(Y/n) voice was soundless, the lullaby once sung was now a broken melody.
"(Y/n) Please...I can explain." Levi words trembled over each other, seeing how her heart had an impact of his loss of words. He tried to intertwine his fingers with hers, wanting to feel her warmth and share his overpowering feelings for her but she was frosted. (Y/n) swatted Levi's hands from her, solemnly shadowing herself into her room, drenched from all the suffering the clouds poured...
"Petra...It's okay, I... I understand."
She softly uttered, expressing Petra a wryly, faint but meaningful smile.
Instant regret sprouted within Petra after seeing that how (y/n)'s fragmented eyes were... and she still forgave her.
(Y/n)'s kindness was pure. The morality within her heart shone brighter than the heaven's light but the Devil has her cruelly caged in his book. She walks into her room as Levi runs after her, leaving Petra filled with a overflowing conscience.
She grabbed tightly onto the vintage, rusted key tucked under her pillow. A key only needed for emergencies.
The promise key, given to her by Jean.
"Promise me you will only use this key for emergencies, promise?"
"Promise."
(Y/n) managed to remember her promise, gazing at the key carefully as it screamed "EMERGENCIES ONLY!"
'I can explain myself...m-maybe I can use Petra and Levi's reuniting as an excuse..."
As she strategically thought this through, (y/n) decided to go through the luminous portal to go mourn with her friends who battled for their lives, people who didn't take their feelings or anyone's into consideration.
"I don't belong here in my world."
...
The halls remained empty and hollow, no life nor excitement was roaming about.
"Armin! I'm going to clean the spare room, I'll meet you in the food hall later okay!" Eren swarmed off to follow up with his duties until Jean caught him walking towards the empty room, paranoid about how Eren didn't know about the full background about (y/n) and anxious about her walking through the oak doors of the broad cupboard.
