A/n : I got the picture from google ...but she is sort of how I imagine Alvaria to be...
The one person I thought was worthy of notice in my group was the scar faced guy I saw before the battle began... I could sense him.
He wasn't hiding at all. I could feel his presence from where I hid, the coldness he was emitting was vast and heavy. He almost looked lonely, standing there with nothing but the comfort of his sword... it seemed as if the weight of the world stood on his shoulders.
He was still in the exact same spot from when he started and around him were bodies of his opponent. His large blade covered in fresh blood as the wind ruffled his blood splattered robes in a lethal dance.
Dangerous and mysterious
Those were the words that came to mind as I watched him. I should probably also add fearless maybe even stupid... for he just stood in the middle of a clearing asking to be attacked.
But as I watched him...I noticed that there were three people trying to attack him.
They were approaching him from his blind spot. He did not seem aware of the three behind him.
After a brief contemplation on whether I should help him or not... I decided that I might as well gain some strong allies if I need to survive this tournament.
Getting my bow ready, I climbed further up onto the rocks making sure I still have cover. With the higher vantage point I was able to see the clearing with less obstructions.
I knocked in a single arrow as I aimed for the person furthest away. I needed to act fast as to not alert the others who were slowly making their way to the scar faced guy.
After checking the positions of the other two, I pulled back hard and released the arrow... by the time it had reached the target I had released the other two as well. All three of my arrows hitting their target, right on their left thigh.
Just in time... as one of them had only been a couple of paces away.
As if waking up from a dream the scar faced guy looked back as the sounds of the dropping bodies...reached his ears. Curiously looking my way, he saw me on my rocks.
Pulling my hood further over my head, I made my way further down the rocks and away from his view.
I could have knocked him out too... but the expression of loneliness he showed made me feel a small sort of connection to this complete stranger.
He seemed to have experienced as much...if not more... of the horrors this world can truly be.
I just hope he is the type to repay favours.
Just as I was about to spread my senses to scope out the next targets. The sound of drums filled the air as cheers from the crowd exploded.
Pausing.
I looked up into the crowd as I had realized that they were still there. Their noise reaching a new level as it seemed we had completed this round.
I had made it past the first round. A sliver of excitement begin to creep into my bones as I realized that I was just that much closer to finally achieving my dreams.
Making my way to the clearing we started of in... I noticed the four others who also survived.
Scar faced guy was still there and looking intensely my way.
There were three others there and of course they were all at least a head taller than me.
One was holding a bow like me, he was skinner and looked more timid than the rest. He dressed like a farmer... his clothes were ragged and dirty. And there were some ripped patches that have been mended as well.
The other two looked related as they were wearing similar looking armours and had the same noble crest imprinted on their chest plate. They looked arrogant and rich.
As they surviving contestants continued to quietly inspect each other in this small group...I looked down at myself, silently wondering what they must think of me. With my petit and small frame, they must have been surprised to know I got through the first round. My hood was still up and the fact that I was a girl was still hidden. If not for my long brown hair that will definitely give my identity away it might be my delicate features that Ry would always compliment me on.
It's not that I was trying to hide my gender... but at this point in time, it did not seem convenient to reveal anything.
Trumpets played as an examiner came to greet us on the field.
"So here we are, the remaining five follow me to the waiting room for the next test. We still have three more groups to go. So be patient and the next test will be explained to all of you guys"
With that said, he began to make his way to an opening in the stadium wall that had just opened.
After stepping through, the sound from the outside because a dull hum as the doors closed behind us.
The examiner led us down a series of intricate hallways into a room where there were more people.
They must be the groups that passed before us.
After leading us in the examiner left back to the stadium.
The room had went silent when we walked in. The other contestants taking us in and judging the new competition.
