A/n: okay I know it's been a long time since I updated but here is chapter 5.... it's slightly different then how I initially imagined...
But enjoy
......Today was the fourth day, and in two more days the tournament would finally begin. This was getting surreal, as the people of Neldevila got ready for the summer festival.
I watched the whole village rush about, comfortably in the safety and cover of a huge tree at the centre of the chaos. I had bought some sunflower seeds that morning and was currently enjoying as I popped in another seedy, salty goodness.
The sound of children laughing as they ran around the displays the adults were trying to erect for the festival made me lift my lips into a small smile.
The village was looking more colourful as Lanterns strung up and bonfires were lit at every corner.Huge leather tents were placed behind inns, which I assumed would hold all the carriages that the arrivals would bring with them.
The tree was in perfect view of the village entrance where one would be able to see all the people arrive. The perfect place to scout my future competition and what I saw made me furrow my brows as the day passed on.
Large groups of people came in through the village, with endless carriages that seemed to be filled to the brim with supplies and different weapons. Each competitor seemed to have five to ten people waiting on them with heavy armour and expensive weapons on their body.
Are these people going to war... I thought this was a tournament.
That night, I sat under the clear night sky, cuddled next to Ry thinking about everything that was going to happen with the tournament, and on the unlikely chance that I end up winning the tournament. I have only ever known one thing for sure in my life and that was on how much I actually loved my over protective dragon. Ry had fallen asleep with his huge wing laid lazily over me. He had always been there for me and I have never known any other person let alone a magical flying beast who would selflessly raise a child...like he did.
well maybe it may be because I was isolated my whole life and never knew anyone other than Ry...
Thats beside the point... I just know that I want to be able to protect Ry, like he protects me. I want to get better with my magic, and gain more combat experience. I was doing it all for Ry.
....I woke up early the next morning.
This is the day. Finally it's come. The birds were chirping in a efforts to wake up the sleeping nature, the sun barely peeking over the edge, hinting at the beautiful day to come.
The excitement was overflowing as any nervous feelings I had were pushed to the back of my mind as I ran around preparing for my departure into the village to sign up for the tournamentRy was sprawled out on the floor lazily, with one eye open tracking my crazy movements. You could see the barely concealed laughter in his open eye as I tripped over my own feet.
Don't start Ry... I rebuked him before he could say anything that would embarrass me...I continued to flail about finishing up my stretches and packing some dried salted fish into my kit, that we had hunted last night.
Knowing the busy day ahead of me, it was better to prepare lunch than having to buy it at one of those vendors that is sure to be overcrowded today.
Ry and I had camped out in the woods since I wasn't all to keen on living with other humans close to me just yet, but I knew that's going to have to change if I want to go to an academy...
It was going to take me about 20 minutes to get back to the village so I needed to set of bow before the sun gets any higher. Ry continued. To be the lazy drago that I know him to be and I couldn't help let out a resigned sigh.....
"Alright Ry, I'll see you once I win this thing" and with a quick cheeky smile flashed in his direction, I all but skipped off
The deep resounding chuckle of my dragon could be heard as his voice floated into my head
Be careful little flower.
