After the war Part 9

Natsu and Gajeel walk back to the B & B. After a while Natsu asked Gajeel "Do you think that your boss would employ me too? I have a bit from the bakery job but that's not going to be enough while we convince the girls to keep us."

"Dunno" replied Gajeel "Come ask him yourself tomorrow when I go. At least we will be with them tomorrow night. "

"Yeah " They walked the rest of the way in silence and went to sleep when they got to the B & B. Gajeel got the bed Natsu the couch because Gajeel had actually paid for the room.

The next morning the guys awoke and Gajeel went to the B & B owner to organise sign out early and pay for Natsu gate crashing. He told the B & B owner he had found his missing family and was going to stay with them.

"Are you the father of Kore?" the B & B owner asked.

"Yes, how did you know? I only found out yesterday..."

"I know Lucy and Levy, and they occasionally bring the girls here to visit me as a thanks for helping them out when they first arrived here. Kore looks exactly like you.... I had been wondering that ever since I saw you?" stated the owner. "The young man who stayed with you last night... Is he Nashi's father?"

"Yes, he is"

"No worries then, I hope things work out between you."

"Me too, Sir, Me too" Said Gajeel.

Natsu and Gajeel then left for Gajeel's work so Natsu could ask about work and Gajeel start work.

After talking to Gajeel's boss, Natsu was able to secure work starting the next day, for demolition of the old premises and building of the new premises. He then headed off to Lucy's place.

When he arrived he knocked on the door. He heard giggling and a pair of lively girls opened the door.

"Oh, it's you!" said Nashi." Come in. I will get Aunt Levy."

Natsu came in and stood near the door as he wasn't sure what to do.

"Hey, Natsu" welcomed Levy" Come in to the kitchen, Have you eaten yet?"

" I have. But I am still hungry" stated Natsu "Is Lucy here?'"

"No, she had to go to work early today as she has to work a extra long day for the day off yesterday."

"When will she be home?"

"About 8pm" replied Levy "She normally only works Saturday and Sunday I work the rest of the week."

"Why those hours?" Asked Natsu

"Well, it came about when we were organising work hours between the bosses" said Levy "It turns out that Lucy could do all her work for the professor in two days as she was so organised. My job however is unable to be changed as the library is open Monday through to Friday 9am to 5pm."

Levy finishes cooking for everyone and asks " Will you help me bring this to the table Natsu"

"Sure thing, Levy"

"Girls!" Called Levy "Breakfast time."

"YAY!" Cheered the girls as they bundled back down the stairs (they had gone back upstairs to play after letting Natsu in) They gave thanks for the food and dug in.

"Girls, is it ok if we go sightseeing today?" Asked Levy.

"Sounds fun Mum" said Kore.

After breakfast they washed up, got ready and headed out the door. That day Natsu got to know the girls well and really admired the job Lucy and Levy had done to raise them. The girls on their part really enjoyed Natsu's company and could see why Lucy had loved him. Nashi in particular had a major change of opinion and by the end of the day started calling Natsu 'pa' or 'papa' depending on what took her fancy. Kore, although she liked Natsu, couldn't bring herself to call him Uncle. He just seemed to friendly to be a uncle.

At the end of the day, Natsu helped cook dinner for everyone, including Gajeel. He felt completely out of his element in doing so though as usually he had takeout. Gajeel arrived there at 530 pm and looked a walking dust ball. Levy chased him into the bathroom and wouldn't let him out till he looked and smelt human.

Levy then sat everyone down and served up dinner. Natsu was surprised by this as he thought that they would wait for Lucy. Levy explained that dinner for the girls was always at 6. If she or Lucy were late, they ate separately, it was important for the girls to have a strict routine and rules.

After they had eaten, Levy sent the girls off for a shower and set up a board game which would allow Gajeel and the girls get to know each other in a fun way. The next few hours were filled with fun and laughter.

At bedtime the girls asked their respective fathers "Can you please tuck me in and tell me a story about your childhood?"

"Sure" both fathers replied and did just that. Nashi, as a result, found out who Igneel was and Kore heard about Metalicana.

Both men had crashed out and were snoring loudly on the couches by the time Lucy came home. She smiled at Natsu and covered him up again as he had kicked off his blankets. He muttered in his sleep "Thanks Lu" She then ate the cold dinner and went to sleep herself.

Over the next month, they learned to be a family unit and became closer as a result. The cafe owner kept his promise and gave Lucy and Levy a reward for warning him of Fairytails history. This gave them the money to pay off their debt and enough to move back to Magnolia.

They decided at the end of the month they all would all move back to Magnolia. Natsu assuredeveryone that it would be ok, though everyone doubted him. Levy and Lucy gave notice to their employers and Lucy failed. Her professor talked her into working consistently 1 day a week within the first train and last train timetable for the same price as she had been for the 2 days' work now.
