"Oh yeah they told me to give you this to you when you wake up ." She August said handing me a card from the flowers

"What is it ? I know you read it . I said smirking reaching for the card

"Aha no I didn't ." He said laughing

I gave him the " I know you lien Face".

"iight dang I may have possibly 12 out of ten chance could have read it . He said smiling afterwards

I read the card . "Who's James ?" I said looking up

"Ion know but when I see that nigga im whoopin his ass " he said sitting in the chair by the side of the bed

"You don't even know who his is 😒" I said putting the card down
"So ! But you do " he said

"I really don't and even if I did it's not your concern " I said
"Yes it is." He said
"No it's not." I. Said
"Yes It is." He said
"No ... It's not!" I said
"Yes... It is." He said mocking me
"It's not your concern.we are not together August . Speaking of which shouldn't you be with ya baby momma." I asked
"Chillll mane." Don't worry about that " He told me
"Nah you should've been worried about condoms " I said under my breathe
"What was that ?" He said
"Nothing ."I said
"And if I remember , we really didn't break up you just left out the house after you use physical force on me" he said holding his chest as if he was in pain
"Oh shut up I didn't use no damn physical force on you. I just pushed you a little. It's not like you flew through the wall witcha big ass"I said
"Ayee I ain't big you just small"he said in defense
"Plus you should have known considering the fact that I ignored you after I found out that you was talking to anther bitch who is disrespectful while you tryna get with me and not only were you talking to her but yall was just some humping monkeys!"
" we weren't humping monkeys? And I wasn't talking to her when I was wit you . That bitch is crazy . She called and texted me a couple of times but I ignored her and then she popped up at the house talm bout she pregnant and shit." He said
"Well I'm over It now so and I don't wanna talk about it anymore." I said looking at the flowers
"We don't have to talk about it . I didn't come here to talk about her."he said

Just then a officer came into the room with a detective next to him
"Goodmorning Ms. Jasmine im officer Stan and this is detective Johnson. We're here to talk about what went on the other day before the accident. Sir if you don't mind waiting in the hall til after we finish.
"iight " August said getting up " I'll go get you some food."
"Ok." I told him
He left and the officer sat down in the seat by the bed where August was siting.
"So Jasmine, I want you to tell me what happen that day between you kate and kevin or what ever can you remember. Ok?" He said to me
The detective then pulling out a pen and pad
"Ok." I started off saying
"Well it was around 8 something that night and he called me down to the kitchen and started yelling at me about not going to go buy food and the. He started hitting and kicking me. Afterwards I went back up the stairs and took a shower and get cleaned up , then it was 9:00pm so I went to the park and I stayed there for about 30minutes or so and walked back home. When I was in the drive way I seen shadows moving in my room. So ran to the front door when to the kitchen grabbed a knife and creeped up the stairs and I pushed my door open and that's when I seen him in the bed wrestling with kate so I ran up and stabbed him in the back I grabbed kate and ran to the steps and she gave me a hugs and she started talking and I seen him behind her with the knife so I whispered to her to go out the windows I pushed her out the way and he stabbed me instead of her and I grabbed him and fell down the stairs. He hit his head on the wall and passed out. He was on my legs and they started hurting so once I got him off I crawled to his room and then I was almost to the bed when he grabbed my leg flipped me over and. Stabbed my leg. Then that's when kate came in and punched h in the face and he fell back and then he got up and his mouth and stuff was bleeding and I told her to ran out the room and close the door . She did that and he couldn't get out. So he turned around and came toward me and that's when I shoot him.
The mins later kate came back in and then after that I woke up here.... Hungry." I finished
"Ok, and how long ass this abuse being going on?" The detective asked
"To long ... Well it really got bad after my mom died three /four years ago." I said tryna hold back tears
"I'm sorry for your lost, but might I ask , did he abuse her to?" He asked
"Yeah , they had arguments every now and then .... And then it became more and more of a everyday thing and he started hitting her . She would try to cover it up with makeup but I knew .. Till that day it went to far. And now she dead.
"So he killed her or ?" He asked a little confused
" he beat her to death and then left the house !! I said In tears
" Do you know how it feels to walk In a room with your momma on the floor bruised and bloody and not breathing.. And force not to say nothing after all these years......... I don't wanna talk about this any more." I said wiping my face laying back down

"Ok . Jasmine we will check up on you later and get this information back to the office."my he officer said standing up , alone with the detective
I nodded my head and they both left.
10 mins later ms. Sheila and kay walked in with ballons and a cards and a bear.
"Jazzy!!" Kay said running up to the bed.
I sat up and grabbed her and put her on the empty space on the bed
"Hay boo!"I said hugging her
"Hay mama Sheila !" I said hugging her to. "What are yall doing here? I asked
" Well August told me yesterday that you was in the hospital after I called him because I couldn't get a hold of you. I had wanted to see if you could babysit kay but it looks like she need to babysit you ahah." She told me
"Ahaha yeahh "I said laughing
"I got you a bear and some ballons and a card jaz!" Kay said handing it to me " "But don't expect no money in it because I'm broke right now. I didn't buy the card and stuff momma did but I picked it out tho so it like I basically bought it." She said
"Ahaa well I thank you so very much and when I feel better Imma take you wherever you wanna go as my thank you ." I Said to her
"Really ?"she said in excitement
"Yep." I said
"Cool!"she said tying the ballons to the bed rail
"So how you feeling jaz?" Shelia asked
" I'm good it still hurts a leg on my side and my leg is kinda numb right now but other then that I'm good . Hungry tho but that's about it."
"You haven't ate?" She asked sitting her purse and stuff down and sitting in the chair.
"No. I think they suppose to bring in something but ion do hospital food like that . But August said that he was gotto get something to eat a while ago.
"Oh ok .

20 mins later

I'm back ! August said walking through the door with Waffle House in his hands .
"Yassssssss!!" I said putting down the game I was playing with Kay
" hay ma , wassup Kay " he said sittin the food down
Hay baby. Shelia said . What's poppin. Kay said
" here's your food jazz ." He said handing it the plate thingy
" yasssss I'm bout to put in work with this fork!"
Everybody laughed as Jasmine stuck a fork full of waffle in her mouth with a piece of bacon
