Prologue

2023 A/N: Jack and Emma's relationship was ambiguous at the time I was writing this story, so I made them siblings instead of father and daughter.

Content warnings: unintentional Car accident, the main character becoming somewhat insane too early, implied Death.

"Jack!"

"What is it, Emma?"

"I'm going to the store, do you want anything?"

"Uhh... Maybe a pack of water?"

"Sure thing!" Emma says as she writes on her grocery list.

"I'll be back by 1:00! Bye!" Emma says as she walks out of the door.

Jack was flipping through the TV, waiting for his sister.

It has been a day, for goodness' sake, where was she?

She was always the type to walk in for one thing only to end up with hundreds of items, but nobody stays an entire day at the grocery store, not even at those 24/7 shops.

Well, he might as well go check to see if she's okay.

"Breaking news! A woman around her 20s has been killed, due to an unfortunate car accident."

Huh...

Emma's in her 20s...

'They couldn't possibly be talking about Emma...' Jack says as he puts on his jacket to leave the house.

"The woman was Identified as "Emma Logan," Eyewitnesses say that-"

Jack felt his mind shut down as he tuned the news out.

This couldn't be happening.

This couldn't be happening..

This couldn't be happening...

This was all just a dream, right?

This wasn't his Emma, right?

She wasn't the one dead, right?

Jack looks at the TV, to see that his closest friend Emma was, indeed dead.

He then drops to his already shaking knees, defeated.

There was no way that he could rationalize this situation.

He looked at the TV once more to see if this was real or if it was his mind playing tricks on him.

Nope, it was real, and Jack had a pretty hard time wrapping his mind around the fact that his sister was dead.

There were so many emotions going through his mind.

Agony, grief, and sadness, but there was one emotion that stood out to him...

...Anger.

Jack looked at the screen to see the other person involved in the crash.

"Nick Forest was indirectly involved in the death-"

It was his fault that Emma was dead.

"Hah..."

He was the reason for Emma's death

"Ha-haa!"

It was his fault for causing him grief.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA"

Jack was laughing so hard that he almost forgot how to breathe

He'll avenge her!

It doesn't matter if it was an accident or not. He'll kill the man that killed his sister and he'll make sure that he suffers before his death.

He just needs some time to plan...

...To find the perfect time to strike...

...He will get his revenge someday.
