"I have come to disagree
All the reasons why
The way our papers piled
And the sleepless nights that climbed into mornings with stale coffee
Your long arms and long legs welcome me in this tight space anyway
Where I can lie on your belly amidst this mess
And tell you all the reasons why
Holed up in the emptiness of your chest
Held between your lips and your tongue
And it has been a long time since, but I feel like maybe I can give in
Because even when we drift apart
And the months find ways to fill in our silence
We find that we don't mind getting back in
We remember the solace in the little things
So we make time and we forget our piles of books for awhile
And finally, I have come to coalesce
The long schedules that drawl itself into sleepy evenings
The way your presence means so much to me
I lie when I feel that I'm about to say three words
That may cause my world to collapse if I finally let you in
But in this moment,
When I am pressed underneath your body
I am almost out of breath
And you brush my hair out of my face to get a good look at me
I find that puzzle pieces are not like human beings
And that is alright when we jut at each other unevenly
Darling, we are gentler together
And I feel that you mean well when you allow me to take the empty space beside you
Therefore, I have come to disagree
All the reasons why."
