New York is known for a lot of things. There's a bunch of well known museums, parks, and prestigious universities. One of them being StonyVerse University.
StonyVerse University is a well known school that was established in the 60s. It used to be a whites only school but over the years it became more and more diverse. The Vans Family is a family that consists of cousins, brothers, and sisters once being fellow attendees. Some later becoming CEOs, COOs, and even the Governor of NY. They're a rich family and it soon became a generational tradition for the children to apply to become fellow students in this university.
Well it's now Silas' turn. His parents were so excited that he got accepted. Him, on the other hand didn't give a shit. Ever since he was in high school his parents always mentioned StonyVerse.
His mom would say, "oh honey you should see the library. It's way bigger than our living room and dining room combined! And also there's a big chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The wall paper that they chose is just so magnificent. I can't wait for you to go there"
His dad on the other hand kept saying, "Apply, deal with some shit. Don't forget to bob and weave. Maybe do some ass kissing and then get that degree. I repeat, get that degree."
Since he was the only child, he couldn't avoid going to StonyVerse. He's honestly just hoping that his fellow students do not act as high and mighty as they look. Louis Vuitton, Jaguars parked outside, Balenciaga shoes. Basically the typical "Hey my parents are rich so I'm going to act like I'm rich too, but in reality I haven't gained a dime in my name since I don't want to work" care package. Let's not even get started on some of the experiences he had by attending some of his parents' work parties.
He has been to orientation. That didn't mean he was buddy buddy with some of the people that were also there. He had to agree with the fact that the food was good, but he didn't want to give people the idea that he wanted to make friends. Friends can leave you disappointed.
Or if you're like Silas, friends can pin a robbery on you just because they know your parents have enough money to bail you out and their parents don't. Well you know, tomato shmomato.
Same shit.
Unknown to him, there was someone that was actually excited to attend StonyVerse University. She goes by the name of Yara Havensworth, and she couldn't wait to step foot on campus in order to make some of her own boss bitch moves. Unfortunately those boss bitch moves had to wait because if she didn't find her plane ticket in less than hour she wouldn't even be able to move in.
Let's not forget that serious ass whooping she's going to get if her mom finds out that she lost her plane ticket. She's the first in her immediate family to go to college in America, and in her mothers mind she's expected to bring home a college degree in 4 years.
Since Yara was unable to take a tour of the school, she was thankful that on the school website there was an option for a virtual tour. StonyVerse University is a vast school that consists of 3 libraries, 1 big music hall, more than one dining hall with different cultural cuisines, and a huge stadium since football is pretty big over there. But that's not all, the buildings for particular classes are widely known for the decor. She was so excited to see things in person.
"Mom you ready? I packed everything and got my ticket!"
Thank god.
"You took your passport, toiletries, insurance, your school ID, and your credit card?"
"Oh shit! Insur-"
"Yara I know for damn sure I didn't hear your curse"
"I didn't mom! It was the wind!"
Her mom has thing about her cursing, while her on the other hand swears worse than a sailor.
Anyway, after swiftly putting her insurance card in her front pocket, she helped her mom put her suitcases in the car. Yara's dad is at work, but he called her while she was in the midst of packing. He prayed for her and made her promise to FaceTime him after she's done with her classes on the first day. Her parents are not together, but she has an amazing relationship with both of them.
But it's not like her dad had a choice. Her mom wouldn't have let him run away from being a father. If he did, she would of surely beaten that ass.
Yara and her mother actually had a conversation about her father, Damien Havensworth.
Her mother said, "He helped me create you, so he has to take responsibility in taking care of you. If not, I'll catch his ass"
"Mom you need to stop catching asses because you have a record"
"And? It's not like it's the first time that I caught a case. But your ass better not! I don't want you to be apart of the system because once you're in you can't get out! They always trying to breath down your neck. Damn government!"
When it comes to Yara's mother, it's always about the damn government. But what is a kid to do, she loves her so much and appreciates all that she has done for her.
No one else can take her mother's place in her heart.
But It's about to be a long plane ride to New York considering she lives all the way in Arizona.
