"Change directions and start your test, I want to make sure you remember what I told you last lesson. I know this is just warm up but I want you to ride this like your in the Rolex." Ally, my trainer called from outside the warm up ring.
I focused, got my horse on the bit and settled into a nice posting trot. I started my warm up test but only made it half way through when the announcer said "145, Marissa King riding 'Billionaires Bid'."
I trotted out of the warm up, passed my trainer as she smiled and threw up two thumbs up. "You got this," she said. I smiled nervously and put my game face on. I trotted past the judges, gave them my back number and smiled. I trotted around the arena for what felt like ages before one of the judges finally rang the bell. I trotted around one final time and rode the test in my head.
I turned into the arena at A, trotted to X, stopped and gave my salute. I continued on with my test, everything going flawlessly. I trotted back to X at the end of my perfect test and saluted once more. I said my thanks to the judges and walked out. Beaming from excitement because this is one of my last training level events before i can move up to preliminary and hopefully qualify for my first CCI*.
I took Cash back to his stall to untack and rest for a while. I got back to barn 15, stopped at my stall and looked across the aisle at barn 16 and saw some western saddles. "Thats new, and weird." I said looking at Cash. Usually the horse park has one show at a time, but i forgot they were having a high school rodeo this weekend too. I saw a couple teenage girls in cowboy hats looking at me and talking. They look like they've never seen an english saddle before... Or a helmet. I shook it off and continued untacking. I put on sweat pants over my white breeches and some muck boots. I untied Cash to take him to the wash rack for a nice rinse off. We started walking and the girls headed our way, almost running us down. We stopped as they reached us and the girls looked at each other smiling. "You ask!" A tall brunette mumbled to the other. "No! Well fine!" The shorter blonde said. The blonde looked at me and smiled, "Is this THE one and only Billionaires Bid?"
