Austin and Katie waited while i changed into my Miss Me jeans and an Ariat western shirt. I slid on my blinged belt and hooked my buckle, my favorite one, with my family's farm name on it. Then I slid on worn out Cinch Edge boots. I pulled my long brown hair out of my tight dressage bun and let it loose.
I emerged from the tack stall and Katie said "Glad to see you in some nice clothes for once!" We both laughed, it was our thing to joke with each other about our different disciplines. I looked behind her and caught Austin staring, then he caught himself. I acted like i didn't see it.
"Well, we ready?" I asked. Both nodded and I said, "Here I'll drive since its on the other side of the park. I'm parked over there."
I grabbed my keys and texted my mom that I'll be back later and gave Cash a kiss. When we got to the parking lot there were only two vehicles. Austin headed for the car right next to my vehicle. Katie and I stopped and stared at him til he turned around. We both shook our heads and laughed. I unlocked my F150 King Ranch and he said "Oh, I wasn't expecting you to drive a truck," as he climbed in the back. "Well how do you expect her to pull a trailer?" Katie said in a joking manner.
"Alright guys, I need to stop at the show office and see if they posted scores for dressage." I said. "Oh I'm sorry I missed your test!" Katie said. "Bro your cool." I replied. I stopped by the show office and got out. I looked by the door where the scores were posted, I found my name and followed my finger across the paper.
Level: Training
Rider: Marissa King
Horse: Billionaires Bid
Score: 28 (OMG)
Place: 1st (EVEN MORE OMG)I practically ran back to the truck, jumping in, and squealed while I did a little dance. "Im guessing its good?!" Katie said. I nodded while still dancing and squealing. "I got a 28 and Im in first!!!!!!" I blurted out. Katie looked at Austin and said "Incase you're confused, the lower your score the better." He nodded "Good job, maybe you being there tonight will help me a little!"
I calmed myself down and started driving again.
We made our way to the other side of the horse park and I parked by Katie's trailer. I said hello to Flash, her horse and Austin invited me to his trailer. I saw a beautiful palomino mare tied to the side. "This is Star," he laughed, "real original right?" I smiled, "Shes beautiful!" The mare flickered her ears toward me and rubbed her muzzle in my hair. She had a personality like Cash.
"Well I better get ready," he said. "Alright, see ya out there! Good Luck!" I said. He turned around put on a little smirk and said "I don't need luck, Im a champion!" Katie appeared from around the corner, "Quit being all cocky, just shut up and ride!" I laughed as she mounted Flash. I waved my good-bye and followed Katie down to the arena.
