You'll ask and I'll deny,
This is how it goes on in my life.
I'll cry and you'll ask why?
I'll simply shake my head and say I'm fine.
When you read this you'll wonder if it's true.
I'll simply laugh and ask if you're out of your mind.
You'll mistake my laughter for happiness,
And I'll let it be.
You'll think it's solitude not lonliness,
And I'll mask what's beneath.
You'll ask about these scars,
I'll say 'I fell down in the dark'.
But it's not the darkness outside I fell,
It's inside, upon which I have dwelt.
