Memento

I was scrolling at my photo album
There was a pang of sadness
As I gaze at some mementos
The glimpse of memory
Not of who or what
But the pain the girl on that picture suffered
Seared and bled
And the smile unreaching the eyes
The look of menace
To let go
To change
To disappear
To grope at sanity
Despite the strong beckon
To succumb to quietude
A permanent solution to a fleeting emotion
And that girl fought
Hard enough to drastically change her stance
Bravery
Strength
She came out victorious
Leaving the old skin behind..
... I smiled at the next photograph
A genuinely, sublimely happy face.
