Joel's POV
"You know this is a life or death business where you enter without knowing if you will survive or if you will be conquered", I say.
"You can't expect me to give you my men without a guarantee that they will be safe even if there is a probability that they won't", Jennifer says. Okay, she was getting on my nerves now.
"Miss, you really don't understand do you? We cannot say that everybody will be safe but our main aim is to kill El Diablo", I say.
"If you treat your men like shit that's your problem because I don't and if you don't give me a valid reason why I will let my men die like chicken, then the deal is off", she says, already standing up to take her leave. To say I was surprised was a understatement. I was beyond surprised. I was shocked and I felt I couldn't match with her. That pride I usually carried had crumbled down like a building that was washed away by flood or that was demolished.
Only my parents and sister that have stood up to me like the way she did. She did it with all courage and determination and there was an emotionless look on my face. I remember promising myself that any woman that will ever stand up to me will be the person that the priest will join together for us to become one.
I looked at Octavio and he knew what that look was because he was there when I made this promise to my family and he was not only my right hand man but also part of my family. She was wronged when she said I didn't care about my men because to be honest, I really do. I only act cold among business associates but when indoors, I am like a family man having a picnic by the shore of the beach.
I didn't want to loose this deal because it would benefit me and also her. I know she cares about her men but she should also know the kind of business we are talking about; Mafia. Not wanting to loose this, what I said not only shocked my men and I but also her and her people.
"I guarantee you with my life that I will protect your men and if necessary, I will provide them with the medical facilities and personnel".
She looked hesitant at first but later agreed.

Jennifer's POV
We were currently looking through the blueprints of El Diablo's mansion given to us by Joel. Joel, his name sounds so magnificent. Okay can you just stop drooling over that guy? I asked myself but not expecting an answer in return.
My mind suddenly went back to one week ago when I threatened to call of the deal if my men are not well protected. I know I sound stupid but we got to know that the person we are fighting is the most dangerous mafia leaders and if Joel's plan is not going to work, there is not need of risking the lives of my men to fight a battle that will not go in our favour. But when he gave me his word, guaranteeing me with his life, I then knew for sure that he will do anything within his power to protect them.
