Chapter 3

Everyone was dead. Not a single living soul blood everywhere. The people.....my people...slaughtered. Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared at the gore filled scene before me.

Gathering myself, I started to search for her. I was relieved to know she wasn't among the slain but I was also fearful.....she may have suffered a much greater misfortune.

We pulled out of the disgusting room and headed for the other hostage rooms expecting the worst. I gathered my thoughts as I tried to be optimistic as best as I could.

I withdrew to the back of the team as we proceeded with caution and at a steady jog, keeping in mind that we had a time limit.

We found the same result in all the hostage rooms.

These aliens....they're ruthless...even way more than the ckrylls.

One last room......... My last hope to find her.

"Please be here....please be alive..please." My silent whisper seems to echo inside my head. I really am nervous and scared she won't be there.".... No she has to be alive." I look up with determination and hope as we slowly approach the last room.

I wonder why the world seems so loud and silent at the same time at these kind of moments. I tense up as I prepare for the most disturbing outcome.

The room was dark and there was a figure moving at the right corner of the room.

With our weapons ready, we slowly and carefully approach the almost immobile figure. Despite our presence, the person in the corner hadn't even twitched in response. Something definitely felt wrong.

Before I even had the chance to signal my current partners, two of the came down, both with huge holes in their heads. It was a ckryll. Luckily ckrylls are fragile and go down easy despite their dangerous demeanor and attacking abilities.

With our team down to four, we were at a disadvantage.

We turned to leave but I stopped in my tracks when I noticed something. The ckryll was guarding a door......almost indistinguishable from the wall.

"Guys, there's a door here. It appears as though the ckryll had been tamed. It was guarding the door." I said as I scrutinized the door looking for a hatch of some kind...or maybe a doorknob I guess.

"How is that even possible!??" The Sergeant, Plau Krayy, who seemed to have the most impressive build, stepped forward with that question. " Only the Five Ones can do that....does that mean....???" He continued as he stood there in realization.

"Well, sir, let's finish this mission for now and head back because the General can't keep fighting forever as he awaits our return." I seemed to have changed the atmosphere with my new discovery.

I hope she is here.....please wait a little more for me. I'll save you and protect you like I promised.

We enter into the hidden doorway. Apparently it leads to another room. " We found them!!" One of my comrades exclaim as we set our eyes on the hostages about thirty of them.

I look around at the frightened innocent faces of Fjans who had been probably abused and experimented on just like I was. I'm not surprised when I notice she isn't in the room.

"Excuse me, are these all the hostages in this facility?? Are there anymore??" I desperately asked an elderly looking Fjan who looked like the leader of this seemingly hopeless group of hostages.

"There was one female who was moved a few kleons ago. They seemed to take a special interest in her. I couldn't understand them but I recognized their body gestures."

"Wait, where did they take her!!??" I hold him back as he starts moving towards the door. He just turns and shrugs at me. I look at the ground boiling with rage and another feeling....probably joy that she is alive at least.

"But, I know they were taking her out of this place." He said right before walking past me.

I looked at his retreating back and sighed. I was probably being taken to the same place too. I stared at the ceiling and thought out loud.
I'm going to find her no matter what.

We make our way back to the stronghold of the general along with the rescued with ease. Apparently, the General had handled the attacking enemy well enough to make them withdraw and regroup.

The hole in the wall to my surprise had a different reason for being there. It was meant for escape after we rescued the hostages.

We retreated using the air transport of the base of the enemy. At least I know where to search for her next. The aliens had only two bases in our galaxy capable of interstellar transport. The closest and most potent one was the AEGIS.

And that's where I'm going to find her.
