The Race

Third POV

Mavis and Zeref smiled as they were greeted warmly by their guild.

"It's good to be back don't you think hun?" Mavis said as she smiled at her husband.

"It sure is dear." Zeref said as they walked in.

"Geesh big bro! It's been months since I last saw you." Natsu said as he hugged his older brother.

Zeref chuckled and hugged Natsu back.

"Sorry but the mission took longer than expected. It didn't help that the guild location changed." Zeref said.

"You literally came at the worst time First Master, Zeref." Gray said scratching his head.

Mavis and Zeref raised a brow.

"Are we going to be questioned by the council again?" Mavis asked.

"Or are we going to war with another guild?" Zeref asked.

"Worse." Levy said, "we're having the 24 hour Endurance Road Race in three days, and to make sure everyone participates Master prohibited us from taking jobs."

Zeref paled.

"You better not trip this year!" Zeref said pointing an accusing finger at Natsu.

Natsu pouted.

"My shoe got stuck what did you expect me to do?!" Natsu defended himself.

Lucy giggled.

"You crashed into your brother, who crashed into Gray, who punched Gajeel, who punched Jet, who grabbed Erza's leg so neither one of you guys got first place." Lucy reminded.

"In fact you all got last place, except for me." Erza said.

"Aye! And I won!" Happy said as he landed on Lucy's head.

"And Carla and I got second and third place." Wendy said.

Zeref pouted and Mavis giggled.

"You looked cute in the maid costume." Mavis said recalling the picture of Zeref in the light blue costume.

Zeref blushed red.

"W-we don't mention that." Zeref said.

Lucy giggled and put her apron on ready to help at the bar. The day went on smoothly with a brawl once in a while. As Lucy helped Mira at the bar, Mavis spoke to Lisanna.

"Hmm so you didn't die and instead were stuck in another world?" Mavis asked

Lisanna nodded.

"Interesting." Mavis said.

"Would you like anything?" Lucy asked Lisanna and the first Master.

Mavis turned to Lucy and smiled widely.

"Can I get the jelly with fruit in it?" Mavis asked her eyes sparkling.

Lucy giggled and nodded.

"Do you want something Lis-chan?" Lucy asked, taking into account Lisanna hadn't eaten anything that day.

"A glass of water and salad please." Lisanna said with a smiled.

Lucy nodded and left to get the order. As Lucy walked Mavis looked at her.

"When will she marry Natsu?" Mavis whispered, barely audible, and since there was a ruckus at the moment the dragon slayers couldn't pick it up.

"Hmm?" Lisanna asked.

"No nothing, I was just wondering when Lucy would start dating. She is a really nice girl and I'm impressed she hasn't dated anyone." Mavis said, not noticing the dragon slayers heard, making some cough, others huff, and one smile.
