Hidden Facts

These aren't exactly secrets but more so facts that are canon that are not revealed in the books because they have nothing to do with plot or character development. Still, I'm sure you'll find them interesting.

This is Not a Tragedy

Hitori, after being in London for a while, is diagnosed with low testosterone. He is given hormones which helps his growth and puberty, yay! His face loses some fat so he looks closer to his age, he peaks at 163 cm (5 foot 4), and his voice gets deeper. He's still cute and youthful-looking, though.

After about 12 years of living in the UK, as Hitori feels more masculine, is totally comfortable living as an out gay man, and overcomes the trauma of the homophobia he experienced growing up, he adopts genderless kei (an androgynous style/aesthetic). He starts an Instagram account where he gains a substantial following. His punk/goth aesthetic never changes, though.

Natsu is a little bit psychotic when it comes to how protective he is of Hitori. There are many times when Natsu gives Hitori advice to handle hurtful situations and people on his own when what Natsu would rather do is break that person's fingers or threaten them with life destruction. Really, the only reason he doesn't is because he knows it would make Hitori sad. Sergius is very concerned about this and so also does his part to protect Hitori so his godson doesn't become a criminal.

This is pretty sad and possibly triggering (WARNING), but Hitori's first kiss was with a teacher who housed him for a couple of months after he ran away from home. Hitori didn't push him away because he was afraid the teacher would tell him to go back home and thought of it as repaying his teacher for his kindness (that's bullshit, Hitori, but alas you were too fucking innocent to understand). While, yeah, the teacher took care of Hitori and gave him money for the private investigator to find Natsu (out of guilt just as much as pity), he is a trash adult for putting his hands on a teenager and his student. This is one of those situations where things in my character's lives don't happen because I want them to, but that's just how things turn out based on all characters personalities and sequence of events. I don't know if it escalated past a kiss. Or rather, it upsets me too much think that it did, so I just stop thinking. It's one of the reasons I discontinued Hitori's Flight. I couldn't bring myself to write something so awful. Even after Natsu learns of this and explains that the teacher was in the wrong, Hitori still does not consider him a bad guy. But hey, he also doesn't consider his father a bad guy and we know his father is a piece of shit, so...

In case you never caught it when Hitori's Flight was on my profile, Hitori's mother is not dead. I have yet to decide whether or not she appears in the sequel since it's not something that affects the larger plot.

This is probably the BIGGEST reveal:

Sergius has always been in love with Lucius, Natsu's father, since the early days of their working together. Meaning, over a hundred years. It's kind of obvious once you think about ALL that he's done for Lucius without getting anything in return—developing an illegal drug so Lucius can be with a human (I'll go to jail for you), financially taking care of that wife and kid when Lucius abandons them and acts all woe-is-me for 13 years (I'll pick up your baggage), takes custody of and sorta raises that child when the wife dies (sure, I'll be a dad in your place). Sergius never desired to be liked back, just wanted Lucius to be happy. It's an extremely selfless kind of love which is partly why Sergius easily accepted Natsu's unique type of love for Hitori. Lucius doesn't know. Or maybe he wishes he didn't know. I'm not totally sure. I do know he is content with his life being a solitary, brooding king. And Sergius feels he doesn't need love when he has all the sweet children as his family in the boarding house. Both Lucius and Sergius will likely be single until the day they die.
