Hush Hush - Becca Fitzpatrick (2009)
Rating: 3/5
Genre: Fantasy, paranormal, YA, romance novel
Okay, let me start by saying this book is quite confusing, but it is quite a good time filler. I have read this multiple times (about 4 times so far), it's one of those books I can read front to back and then start over again as soon as I finish.
I know that a lot of teen reviewers did enjoy this book, probably because of Patch (the bad boy), but after reading a few times I have realized that he is most certainly not a good guy and I realize that a lot of teens may have 'fallen' for him but I honestly find it hard to like him all that much now.
Nora, is the main character of this novel. Nora is probably the character I liked the least, she is continually chasing after Patch throughout the novel (which, I suppose is to be expected because this novel is in the YA category). She does things very out of character, trying to find things out about our fallen angel; she goes to a club that she wouldn't usually go to, she breaks into the office at school trying to get his file and does heaps of other stupid things.
Vee is Nora's best friend and she is almost the opposite of Nora (opposites attract right?), Vee is quite unique and a bit more adventurous, but I found her to be quite annoying at times. In some other reviews I've read they said that she was a bit stupid in this book, but I disagree, she most certainly isn't a stupid character, in fact I understood her pov (point of view) in most things. Throughout the whole novel Vee didn't have a clue what was going on and honestly if I was in Vee's position I wouldn't know what to do if I thought my best friend had a violent stalker.
I have read in A LOT of reviews that fans of Twilight will like this book and I admit I can see some similarities, BUT it is definitely not the new Twilight.
I can't say that the plot was what I thought it was going to be, but it certainly was random, this is good if you want plot twists in your books.
Although this book may not have the best role models, I didn't find it influential in any way.
WARNING: This book contains quotes from the Old Testament in the Bible and other religious texts; this information may confuse non-religious readers, this novel may also insult religious readers.
WARNING: This book does contain mentions of sex (it can be quite blunt at times).
