The Last Stand (Damirae)

Chapter 7: Angelic

The team spent most of their day training and hanging around Gotham city. Bruce wasn't there most of the time but when he was there he would mostly be in the bat cave minding his own business. Damian would try to get into his "business" sometimes but Bruce shut him down saying it has had nothing to do with you.

"But father, you've always let me in any case you've handled in the past years, why is this any different?" Damian protested.

"You're to spend more time with your brothers, not work," Bruce answered coldly.

"Tsk, you always want to be a loner don't you?"Damian shot back. He didn't want to stick around to be lectured by his father again so he decided to walk back upstairs. "He's probably gonna get himself killed for real if this continues to be like this," he thought to himself.

As he opened the door back to the living room, he saw everyone crowding around the TV watching Jon and Jaime trying to beat the boss level in their newly bought video game and he didn't want to stick around for that either. So he decided to find Raven who was obviously not in the room of barbarians. (hahaha)

The hallways were quiet as usual and the manor was huge so the walk to Raven's room took a bit of time. He kept thinking about why his father won't let him in his work. It was quite suspicious and obvious that Bruce's hiding something from him. 

He was snapped out of his thought when he got to the front of Raven's door. He gently knocked twice and waited for a response but none came. He knocked again but had the same results. He grew worried and opened the door cautiously.

"Raven?" he whispered. 

The room was pitched black. The only source of light was the moonlight coming through the opened balcony door. He heard some faint guitar music coming from the balcony. He whispered Raven's name again but no response. He saw the silhouette of a girl outside which was definitely Raven. 

He crept up to the door only to see Raven sitting at the edge of the balcony with headphones over her head and playing the guitar while singing.

God knows we tried
Yet all along, I knew we'd be fine...

Damian's face turned to one of shock. He never knew his girlfriend could play the guitar nonetheless sing so angelically. He stood there smiling while watching the beauty in front of him singing the song. 

When Raven finished, she took down her headphones, and just as she was about to climb down, Damian's clapping frightened her and she lost her balance and fell over. Luckily the room was not so far from the ground and there was a bush shielding her impact.

"Oof-" she cried out.

Damian quickly ran and caught her guitar just in time. He looked over the edge seeing Raven recovering from the impact.  She flew back up with "the look" on her face. Damian knew what was coming.

"What were you doing?! " Raven scolded.

"Well, I was bored so I came to find you but you were out here so I didn't want to disturb you... Sorry," He said rubbing his neck in shame. "By the way, you sound very nice"

Raven blushed bright red at his compliment and played with her head. "You don't know a lot about me, Mister," she teased. "Wanna go on a walk?"

"Sure," Damian said without hesitance.

That night, Damian couldn't get his mind off the thing that Bruce was hiding from him so he decided to head down to the bat cave to investigate. Luckily, it was the time when everybody had gone to sleep so it wouldn't be a problem for him.

The bat cave lights were always on so it was well lit. He had memorized the motion detector lasers so he maneuvered through the room with ease. He had access to the computer so that part was also easy. 

He scanned the computer but stumbled across a sketchy looking file entitled "Case: Demons". He clicked the file but it had a password which was odd because the other files didn't have one. He didn't want to risk setting off the alarm so decided to hack into the system through his phone. It took a moment but he eventually got it. What he saw was very shocking.
