~Third Person P.O.V~

It was Friday, they went back to school the following Monday and Lance was not ready for it.

Thankfully for the Cuban teen, the Kogane's never brought up him singing to his siblings- which spared him the embarrassment. Well...almost all the Kogane's. Krolia always loved to comment on how well Lance could sing, when they were alone of course, prompting him to blush like a madman.

He didn't mind the compliments, it's just that he wasn't used to them.

Lance was currently in the bathroom, where he's been for the past hour and a half. If he was being honest, he got out the shower after the first twenty minutes- he's just been sitting there...staring.

Staring at what you may ask?

His scar.

It started at the bottom of his collar bone, leading all the way down to his abdomen- the skin slightly raised and a few shades lighter. It used to bother him before, hell it used to annoy the shit out of him. But now? Now it's just a reminder, a reminder of that day, and a reminder of what he lost.

A knock on the door pulled him from his thoughts, he quickly threw his hoodie over his head, scooping his dirty clothes into his hands.

"Just a minute!" Lance called out.

Taking one last look at himself in the mirror he opens the door, to be met with Shiro's awkward facial expression.

"Uhm- my mom wants us all downstairs." Shiro chuckled sheepishly, pivoting on his heel and stalking off down the steps.

Lance quickly followed after, making sure to put the clothes in the hamper on his way down. Everyone was gathered around in a circle, Krolia talking excitedly as Christopher and the boys looked at her with a hybrid expression of half amused-half tired. The Cuban couldn't help but lightly laugh at how animated she looked at the moment...it kind of remined him of Veronica.

"So? C'mon guys what do you say, doesn't that sound like fun?" Krolia asked, catching a piece of her lip in between her canines.

Christopher sighed, sitting down in the recliner and rubbing his knees. "I don't know honey, it seems a bit spontaneous to me." He said reluctantly, his sons nodding their heads in agreement.

"Since when are we not spontaneous?! Lance is an example of that!" Krolia defended, motioning her hand to the blue-eyed teen.

"Well...we do live in San Diego dad, it's not long of a drive." Shiro chimed in, trying to come to his step mother's aid.

Krolia turned her attention to Keith and Lance, both of them were relatively quiet at the moment.

"Ahh- what exactly are we doing?" Lance chuckled nervously, tugging at the strings of his hoodie.

Keith rolled his eyes at his mother. "My mom thinks it'll be a good idea to go to the beach today." He said, his voice low with dullness.

Lance could feel his eyes widen for a fraction of a second, anxiety forming in the pit of his stomach- itching to crawl outward and bloom. His palms felt sweaty, as if they were trapped in a sauna at the moment.

"The beach? As in- as in water?" Lance gulped, nobody seeming to pick up on his reluctance to the whole ordeal.

"Yeah, it's stupid." Keith snickered, looking at his mother with tired and amused eyes.

Krolia let out an aggravated, high pitched sigh- staring at all of them with a scrutinizing gaze. "It is not stupid, Keith! It'll be fun!" She said, letting out a small whine as if she were a child.
