WHATEVER THOMAS had said to Jorge worked. The man agreed to feed them in exchange for 'information'. His cronies didn't seem particularly fond of the idea though and Cassandra wondered exactly how much control did Jorge have over them.
A weird girl named Brenda was leading them to the stash of food while Jorge brought up the rear. They stayed within the shadows of the walls for some protection from the ungodly sun. The light reflecting off the shards of glass and metal debris sparkled in the dusty heat so that Cassandra had to shield her eyes with a hand every now and then. Soon, they came to a set of steps that led underground.
