(A/N) I live in Britain but I'm trying to use more American language because America is the main character, so sorry if anything sounds wrong!

Also, thanks to JustARandomWeeb_876 for helping me write this chapter :)

"Ame, over here!" New Zealand called, waving his hands in the air. I smiled and walked over to him and Australia.

"Hey," I said with a tired smile.

"I'm guessing you didn't get much sleep last lesson?" Australia asked, smirking. I shook my head.

"No, but I still got detention for not doing any work!" I complained. "A full fucking hour, too!"

"Hold on, we've gotta wait for an hour?!"

I raised an eyebrow. "Why don't you just walk home without me?"

"Are you kidding me?!" New Zealand exclaimed. "Last time I walked alone with him he almost killed me!"

"Aw come on, mate, it was just a little grass snake! It wasn't going to hurt you!"

I shivered, knowing I wouldn't want to be in that situation either - even if it was a non-venomous snake.

"Alright, you can wait outside of school then. Are you sure you won't get bored?"

My two brothers shrugged. "We'll find something to do," New Zealand said.

I smiled. "Great. And guess what!"

"You had a conversation with Russia?" Australia guessed with a smirk.

"Fuck, how did you know?!" Without warning, a sudden force knocked me down onto my knees. "Hey, what the-?!"

"Hey losers," China said, North Korea standing by his side as always. I rolled my eyes.

"'Sup?" I watched as China's eyes glanced between us.

"One, two, three... isn't there supposed to be another one? Or am I counting wrong?"

I stood up and clenched my fists. "Canada is ill. Don't pretend he doesn't exist!"

"Yeah, not cool mate," Australia said, backing me up. A smirk spread across China's face as he looked at me, ignoring my youngest brother.

"Are you sure about that, America? Or are you hiding something?"

Shit... does he know?

"What could I possibly be hiding, China?" I asked in the most intimidating voice I could make, trying to hide my worry. China's smirk grew.

"Let's just say someone told me differently..." I was confused. The only other person who knew the truth was... Russia. No, that couldn't be right. Someone probably overheard the conversation... North Korea, perhaps? Oh wait, he sat on the other side of the classroom...

"Who told you?" I asked, lowering my voice and moving closer to China. He barely flinched.

"That's none of your business. Don't worry though, I'm sure your brother still thinks very highly of you." My fists clenched tighter as China snickered at his own pun.

"Get your ass out of here right now, and don't fucking dare to bother any of my brothers. Got it?" China rolled his eyes and walked away, leaving me alone. Or so I thought.

"Care to explain, mate?"

Shit.

-

"Let me get this straight. Canada starts smoking fucking marijuana, and the first person you think to tell is the boy you've only known for A FUCKING DAY?!" I flinched at Australia's sudden outburst. I tried to explain myself, but I couldn't form a single word.

You're such a failure to them...

"A-Aussie, leave him alone! He probably wasn't thinking straight!" I barely heard New Zealand say. Everything started to go blurry.

"Yeah? Well he was thinking pretty fucking straight when he told Mom and Dad that whole lie about what happened to Canada!"

"Dude, calm- Ame?"

I focused on the ground, trying to calm my breathing. I felt my eyes beginning to water.

Shit... not now! Not in front of everyone!

I ran to the toilets, trying not to draw too much attention to myself. That was going well until I opened the door and crashed straight into something... or someone.

"America?"

I looked up and my eyes focused on a surprised face. A surprised face that I really did not want to see at that moment. "R-Russia..."

He looked at me, his head tilted. He almost looked... concerned. "A-are you okay..?"

I nodded, rubbing one of my eyes to try and get rid of the tears. I must have accidentally lifted my sunglasses too high in the process, because Russia noticed my other eye.

"Hey, why are you crying?"

"F-fuck off, it's nothing..." I mumbled, still trying to hold back tears. I was surprised to feel a pair of arms wrap around my body.

"It's okay... just let it out."

After an initial moment of shock, I realised that I had already started sobbing.

Idiot, you're not supposed to show people how sensitive you are!

Without thinking, I wrapped my arms around Russia. I was surprised. For once, I felt safe from everything. Even the voices in my head.

After a moment, Russia pulled away. I looked up at him and smiled, feeling warm inside. He gave me a small smile in return.

"Now, do you want to talk about what's wrong?"

I thought for a minute. Australia would probably be even angrier if he found out... but I needed comfort.

"I m-messed up..." I stuttered. "China found out what happened to C-Canada... he's going to hate me! Australia already hates me..."

I noticed Russia tense up. "Этот ублюдок..." (That bastard...) he whispered under his breath. I watched him carefully, but jumped as soon as the bell rang.

"Shit!" I turned to the mirror and took my sunglasses off. My face was a mess.

"Here, let me help clean you up," Russia said, his body relaxing. He took some tissue and dampened it under the tap. He then wiped my face softly with it, and rubbed it dry with the sleeve of his hoodie. I giggled, watching him through the mirror.

He's so caring...

"Come on, we should go to class," he said, throwing the wet tissue into the trash. I blinked a few times and looked up at him, my face heating up slightly.

"Oh, r-right!" I gave him an awkward smile and he smiled back before leaving the toilets, with me following close behind him.

Maybe this year won't be so boring after all.
