You Choose

Monkey see monkey do

The closest bar was across the street from the university. Nate hurried to open the door for me and talked to the waiter as we were looking for a table for two. We ordered two coffees with cream. As the waiter leaves, I turn my face to Nate and I was surprised to see that he was staring at me.

-"What? Why are you staring at me like that?"i asked

-"Like what?" he narrows his eyes. My phone rings and I bound as I was so concentrated at Nate's eyes. "Is Olivia with you? I can't find her." I rolled my eyes when I saw the message was from Ed. I put the phone away and I look at Nate who watched every single move I made.

-"Trouble in paradise?" he asked with his eyebrow raised.

-"Yeah, if only this paradise would exist. More like hell lately" i sigh

-"What happened?" I couldn't tell him what was wrong in my life. I barely know him and besides I didn't think he would be so interested.

-"This is wrong"i said as I put my jacket on.

-"What's wrong Blair?"he yells but stops when the waiter approached with the coffees.

-"This! I have a lot of things I should think about and here I am drinking coffee with a stranger." I was pulling the door and step outside. I forgot I haven't pay for my coffee so I turned around right when Nate went outside the bar. Again I turn around trying to find my car. As I open the car's door, he pushes it just like he did on the first day I meet him. I look at him as he takes a step forward so I take a step back. He didn't took his eyes from me the entire time. I realize my back was against the car and that makes him move a little closer. I bit my lip. Even with all the shit around me, the way he looks at me feels like the best thing in the world. I tried to break the eye contact but Nate grabs my chin and we reconnect. My face was burning.

-"Who is this guy?" he asked softly. I raise my eyebrow.

-"What guy?"

-"The guy that keeps sending you texts." I rolled my eyes at him. I didn't notice that my phone rings constantly. "Stop doing that Blair. It's not nice." he moved a little so now I could feel his body over mine. Such a pleasure if it wasn't in this circumstances. I look at his lips and I couldn't control my body as it starts to move closer to his. This has to stop. I hit his hand and the eye contact disappears. Nate took a few steps back.

-"Leave me alone Nate." and I open the car's door. Once again he pushes the door. I froze. Who the fuck he think he is? Suddenly my shoulder starts to burn. I place my hand over it and he sighs.

-"The pain will pass." and he turned around and walked away. How did he knew about my pain?

I drive as fast as I could to my apartment being afraid of what I will find. I unlocked the door and I was shocked to see everything in place. Olivia cleaned up the whole apartment while I was gone.

-"Olivia?" i called her as I locked the door. She cooked? The smell was delightful and I was so hungry, especially after that conversation with Nate. I took out my phone to see 27 messages from Ed asking about Olivia. He could ask me how I was, but that was just the mean part of myself.

-"Blair!" she smiled when she saw me. "I cleaned up a little, hope you don't mind and the diner is ready." I nodded. This won't forgive her for what she done.  She puts two plates on the table and starts filling them.

-"Where is your phone?" I asked looking around.

-"I left it at home. Why?"

-"Ed is worried about you. He texted me 27 times. You should call him back." i said and grab two sodas from fridge.

-"I don't know... I am still afraid of him." I rolled my eyes. I was talking with my ex best friend who's carrying my ex boyfriend' baby about my ex boyfriend. How awkward is this?

We finish the dinner and I took a really long shower and went to bed. Olivia slept on he couch. Next morning Olivia thanked me for letting her stay and I was all by myself again. I didn't want to see Nate so I didn't go to university that day. I realized that my piggy bank and my money that my parents gave me when I turned 18 will last for a couple of months so I open my laptop and start searching for a part time jobs. I applied for few, all were internships in big companies which matched with my study activity.

2 WEEKS LATER

I woke up because the phone was ringing. It was 3 AM in the morning and I saw Olivia's name on my display. I sigh. What now?

-"Olivia" i said harshly.

-"Blair? Blair I lost the baby..." she barley speak and sounded like she was drowning in her tears.

-" I'm sorry Olivia. Are you okay?" I wasn't happy for her. If anything, I wouldn't want that for nobody.

-"No Blair, I'm in hospital. I just found out and you are the only person I trust. That's why I called you."

-"Olivia, calm down. I'll visit you in the morning." i hang up and l lie down for a while. How did I become the only person Olivia can trust? After everything she did to me, I was still her best friend. I shake my head as I  admit that my life was a mess and above all, like hell. Never in my entire life have I feel so mixed experiences and so fast. I couldn't be sure of my feelings, I couldn't trust myself around Nate which was obviously since he provokes me in every possible way and I had no job. Above all, I haven't been at the university in weeks as I didn't want to see Nate. Now that i think about that I feel stupid for avoiding him. After all, how worse can it get?

I fall asleep immersed in my thoughts. In the morning I make my coffee, put a red dress on me and went to the San Diego hospital to see Olivia. As I walked through the door I heard a voice. "Don't go" and I turned around to see no one near me. I ignore it as usual. I went to the reception and asked for Olivia Smith and a nurse guide me to her salon. I knocked and  push the door and saw Olivia in bed with a red face. She starts to cry as I walked in and I thought it was out of joy.

-"I'm sorry!" she whispered and I looked at her with a question mark on my face.

-"Blair" i heard a rough voice coming from my back. I turned around and I froze. Why keeps Olivia choose him over me over and over again?
