Athena's PoV
Its been 2 days and now finally we are beginning to see some movement around their base. It seems like they are recruiting new members for their gang. New faces have been appearing, out of which none have the look on authority on them, thus new recruits.
"So, they're recruiting people, and from what we have noticed they have a pattern in choosing the people. None of the new faces have any data in the official files." Jack said but was cut off by Noah. "And they are aren't in any of our files too. So they are absolutely fresh to the field."
"But why would they want complete newbies?" I finally asked. It makes more sense to choose people who have some form of violence or illegal record in the past because the would have more experience.
"Cause they don't want a record of them anywhere, which is a smart move," Hunt said looking out the window. "Not legally or illegally" He added looking at us.
"So, what do we do now? We send someone from our gang in?" I go over. "Better, we go in as one of the new recruits," Noah said with a smirk.
"That's great actually. They won't be getting our records legally and we could directly know about them." I said excitedly.
I always wanted to go undercover but it was always Jack who went. He was always the face of the gang, and I don't have a problem with that. Everyone knew that he had a twin who was also the co-leader, but no one knew how I looked except my gang members and a few of our close alliances like the Knight's.
"Yeah. But don't get over the moon sweetheart, cause you ain't going anywhere." Hunt said from the corner. I looked at Jack with anger. He can't support Hunt on this. He knows it has to be me.
"You guys do realize that I am the only face here which is the least seen in the entire mafia community? and plus I am a girl, it will so super easy for me to get those moronic protein shakes to choose me." I say fiercely.
"Athena, we will discuss this tomorrow alright. It's late now, and it's your turn for the lookout tomorrow. So go get rest. All decisions will be made tomorrow." He says in a low tone.
"Seriously, what is wrong with you guys? I am not a child! And Jack, just so you know, you can't order me around, I can make decisions on perfectly on my own for the gang." I say getting up and walking towards Hunter.
"And tomorrow, we make the decision together. Unless you want your face broken, don't decide anything without me" I said pulling him towards me by his shirt. He just rolled his eyes and looked back at Jack. I left to my room. I was furious. They always underestimate me.
Noah's POV
I stood there watching her burning up in anger. And she definitely was another level of fierce. We all knew she had to be the one to go. Everyone heard about Athena in the mafia community, about the second half of the ALine gang.
ALine was known for what they did, the supply of arms, and their means of doing it. They were one of the few 'Nobel' gangs. But there were always stories of their fights. They were known to fight and stick together at all times.
The sound of the door of her room closing bought me out of my thoughts. But Jack and Hunter were thinking the same thing as me, 'how do we find another way?'. They both were just being protective. But this time, even I didn't want her to go there. The Carters were inhumane people. If she got caught, even her bones would be hard to save.
"We will think about something tomorrow. I am calling it a night guys." Hunter sighed and went to his room. Jack and I sat on the couch.
"So, what do you think we should do?"He finally breaks the silence. "I don't want her there, let alone all by herself." He continues.
"You know she is capable of this right? I mean, have you seen her fight?" I said, trying my best to lighten the mood, which I am very bad at.
"Of course man, she has trained her entire life. She has been on the field. But you and I both know that this is different." he says drinking his beer.
"I have always tried to not put her life at risk. When it comes to fighting, shooting, and kicking ass, my sister is probably the best. But undercover isn't something I am ready to make her do." He mumbles.
"I will go with her," I say flatly. "You what?" he asks astonished. "You said you don't want her there alone, so I will be there with her," I say shrugging. If few people know Anthena's face, no one knows my face. Literally no one. I should have thought of this before. Maybe only I can go.
"Or only I can go," I say again. "She needs to go, she will make it easier," Jack says and starts thinking again. "You'll go with her? But why? You have a whole other gang to handle from out here." Jack says with his eye-brows up.
"I am sure my father and sister can handle it for a few months without me," I say.
"Are you sure Noah?" Jack asked, worry evident on his face. "Yup," I say popping the P.
"And can I trust you with her life," He asks concerned. "I promise, I will always put her before me" I assured him.
"Of course he will" we heard Hunt chuckle from the kitchen counter. "Jack, if you haven't noticed, Mr.Knight here admires the heck out of the lady in there," he said pointing at Athena's room.
"How long have you been there?" I asked ignoring his assumption, which was obviously very dumb. "Since like the beginning," Hunt says getting a beer and sitting with us.
"So, you will go with her?" Hunt asks me. "Yes, I will" I answer. "Noah, I want you to know that if I could, I would go with her any day. and even if you say you won't go with her, then somehow I will go with her. I won't let her be in danger." He says seriously.
"I am well aware Hunter," I say flatly.
"Noah, we have known the Knights for years now, and we trust you with the business and gang fights. This may come out as impolite but can we completely trust you with Athena's life. No." Hunter said as his expressions softened. "Hell, we don't trust anyone with her life but for us. Only Jack and me. And it has always been like that"Jack nods.
"Noah, You are strong and you run the empire of the Knights. We don't question your ability to fight. But can we rely on you to protect the only family we got?" Jack says concerned.
"Listen, as much as I like you guys, I cannot tolerate someone questioning my abilities. You have my word Jackson, your sister will be safe with me. I will protect her." I say sincerely. I will.
"No matter what?" Jack asks getting up. "No matter what," I say and go to my room.
I kept thinking about what Hunter said back there. About me admiring Athena. Was it so obvious?
