Athena's PoV
Angie took us down to our rooms. The rooms wasn't big but it was enough for 2. Maybe 3 also. The walls were plain and there was one bed in the corner and a mattress on the floor. There was also a chair on the side and a small bathroom.
Angie left us there and said us to settle down, she would come and call us for the questioning session after a few hours.
"For being the disgusting jerks that they are, the Caters have a good place," I said looking around and Noah just nodded. "So will you take the bed or the mattress?" I asked Him trying to break the silence.
"It's up to you" he shrugged and kept his backpack on the mattress. Well, I guess I get the bed then.
"Athena try to keep your distance from Ace," Noah said and I just raised my eyebrows confused. "Yeah, I am aware you can kick his ass and all but for the time being, try to stay away from that man," Noah said and I was still confused. "Why. May I ask?"
"Cause he is a pervert!" Noah said flatly. "He looks like he wants to eat you or something," Noah said with absolutely no expression.
"Well I am a snack you know," I said smirking trying to lighten the mood.
"I am being serious okay. Just stay away from him" Noah said and laid on his mattress. "Okay okay. Calm down" I said and sat on the bedside.
"Noah" I called him after a while. He just hummed in response. "Noah!" I whisper-yelled at him. He hummed louder this time.
"Are you sleeping?" I asked extending my arm and poking his shoulder. His eyes opened at my touch and he glared at me.
"I would be if you let me" He said annoyed and turned on his side, facing his back to me.
"Aww, Am I annoying the Noah Knight?" I asked smugly. "You always annoy me" Noah responded. I poked his back this time and he didn't say anything. I kept poking him and he kept ignoring me.
"Lady you haven't slept the night, can you not do that and just fall asleep and let me sleep" Noah said all of the sudden. It was true that I didn't sleep the night but how did he know?
"I have sleeping issues" I said and I excepted him to be amused or something but he was not. "No shit Sherlock! You are awake like the owl at nights sometime" he said and became quiet again.
"How do you know that?" I asked curiously. "If I answer, will you let me sleep?" I asked and I said yes.
"When you stay in the same place with someone for almost a month and a half, you tend to notice their behaviour" he said and continued. "Even when it was not your turn to monitor you used to stay awake with Jack or Hunter sometimes and when you monitor you don't look tired at all." He said and I hummed letting his word sink in. He was smart.
Soon I heard soft snores and looked at him. He looked calm, and relaxed. He radiated dominance in he sleep too. I thought about the way he works. Honestly speaking he is really good at all this. He will be a great leader when he takes over after his father. He can a jerk at times, an arrogant one but he is a good at heart.
My mind went to the night when he had his nightmare. I understood what he meant by having our own demons. Killing people isn't easy. They somehow find a way to come back at you.
I opened my eyes to a deep voice calling my name. "Wake up, Angie said we should go get breakfast in the canteen" he said. Wait! I fell asleep?
"Was I sleeping?" I asked him and he looked at me as if I was crazy. "Yeah, why are you surprised?" He asked. "Well, I don't remember the last time I slept properly at night let alone when I slept in the day" I shrugged laughing. "You must have been tired" he said and sat back down on the mattress.
