while I sit in this study
in one of the richest cities in the world
I can't help but think
is this worth it?
worth it to write about my experiences and hope someone will see it and relate?
worth it to hope for my words to have some impact, however small, on this tiny planet full of hate?
yes. yes, it is.
because to anyone who doesn't know they belong, you are not alone.
to anyone who would pour over the American girl magazines in hopes of one that looked like you {despite the fact that you knew you could never really have one}
to anyone who had princess jasmine be the first time they saw themselves on the silver screen
you are not alone.
so go, and, with this knowledge, write. create. make worlds, worlds where people look like you and like your friends.
make a world where no one has to grow up in a drought of culture.
- a girl who still can't name an Indian pop culture icon off the top of her head
