CHAPTER THIRTEEN

HAVEN SAT BESIDE stiles on the bench on the school's football field, a blank look on her face. she should've taken jackson's words seriously about lydia not taking no for an answer. if lydia hadn't shown up to the house and practically forced haven, then she wouldn't be sitting here at the school right now.

jackson caught sight of haven sitting on the bench, seeing how annoyed she looked. when her eyes met his, he chuckled and waved at her causing her to roll her eyes. he chuckled before turning back to the team.

"you know, you didn't have to come." stiles turned to haven, seeing the annoyed look on her face.

"try telling that to lydia." have told him, crossing her arms over her chest as the cold autumn breeze hit her.

stiles notice her let out a slight shiver and took his jacket off, handing it to her. she looked at it for a moment and went to protest but he stopped her from doing so.

"don't argue. i know you're cold." he told her and she sighed, reluctantly slipped the warm jacket on.

allison sat with lydia and her dad, chris argent, up on the bleachers and waited for the game to start. lydia mumbles she'll be back to allison before walking down the bleachers and heading over to scott.

"scott! i just want you to remember something for tonight!" lydia exclaimed as she slapped her hand on his shoulder.

"uh, that winning isn't everything?" he said nervously as he didn't give the girl a second glance.

"nobody likes the loser." she whispered in his ear before patting his shoulder and turning to haven who was seated next to stiles, her eyes locked on the ground.

"haven!" the strawberry blonde called out, drawing haven's attention. "come sit with allison and i!"

haven looked at stiles who nodded and she huffed, putting on a fake smile before standing up. she followed lydia up the bleachers to where allison and chris were seated. haven sat between lydia and allison, feeling slightly uncomfortable.

"oh haven, this is my dad and dad, this is haven. she's also new this year." allison introduced the two.

haven looked at the older argent with a friendly smile. "nice to meet you..."

"call me chris. and it's nice to meet you too." he gave the girl a genuine smile, glancing at his daughter for a moment before looking back to the field as the game began.

throughout the game, stiles and haven took notice that none of the teammates have passed the ball to scott. haven found that weird but didn't think much of it. that was until jackson did everything in his power to prevent scott from getting the ball.

when the game reached the half time, jackson got the team all huddled together, keeping scott from a distance. but jackson was unaware of scott's ability to hear loud and clear from a faraway distance.

"only to me." jackson demanded, looking between everyone.

"what if he's open?" danny, jackson's best friend, asks.
