Welcome ! DreusAmarillo

Let's get into it!

1. What motivated you to start writing your story? Do you enjoy writing or is it more of a chore for you?

The need to find a story that satisfies me is what motivated me to start writing. When I began writing, I wanted to form a tale that has the elements I found missing in all of the other stories I’ve encountered. I enjoy writing because it is a creative task where we get to build our own worlds. It is a hobby, not a chore for me.

2. How did you stumble upon Wattpad ? Have you always known about it?

I’ve passed by Wattpad many times but I got serious about it when I decided to write my first novel when I was in Grade 12.

3. Who is your favourite writer on wattpad so far? And which book drew you to them?

So far my favorite writers on Wattpad have been @JonEvans, and @RaquelS03, @electrawhittaker, @readbrookesbooks and @T_I_Harper. I gave two sets of names coz Jon is an established writer while the others are rising stars. I believe both these categories should be represented.

For @JonEvans it is the book ‘Dark Places’ that drew me to him. I was looking for a thriller and I found a great one in his profile. Dark Places is worth checking out if you like thrillers involving a serial killer network operating in the deep web with connections around the world.

As for @RaquelS03 it was her novel ‘One In A Million.’ @T_I_Harper ‘s story ‘Nim’s Dragon’ drew me to her writing just like how ‘Versus’ by @electrawhittaker drew me to her work. As for @readbrookesbooks it is the story ‘Star Flower’ and ‘Saving Luna’

4. What is your aim for your Wattpad career? Anything specific you would like to achieve?

I really don’t have a particular goal for my Wattpad career. I want to target a niche market of those who are looking for a particular kind of story, even if that genre isn’t popular. But I would love to be a Wattys winner one day, a star, or an ambassador.

5. Tell us something interesting about yourself that your readers may not know!

Well, I am a student at Georgetown University in SFS. So hello to all my fellow Hoyas out there. HOYA SAXA! I also love country music. I am a great fan of Chase Rice, Toby Keith, Florida Georgia Line, and Thomas Rhett. Besides that, I like Spanish music (from Spain). Alvaro Soler, Pablo Lopez, Pablo Alboran, and Logarto Amarillo are my favorite artists.

6. How did you choose your Wattpad username? Was it challenging or did it just come easily?

Choosing my Wattpad name was easy. Dreus is a short form of the Greek form of my name, whereas Amarillo was a name I borrowed from one of my favorite music bands Logarto Amarillo

7. Can you name some accounts that have improved your Wattpad experience? Eg: friends you may have met here!

Well these are some accounts: @readbrookesbooks ; @electrawhittaker ; @Ajg037; @T_I_Harper and, @RaquelS03 . They’ve helped me improve my Wattpad experience.

8. What is your favourite thing about being on Wattpad?

The interaction. It makes reading and writing a social experience.

9. How did you decide on the plot and title of your current book? Tell us!

Well I decided on the plot when I was thinking about how there’s a lack of thrillers involving camping trips to Bolivia. So I combined elements from Daniel Radcliffe’s film ‘Into The Jungle’ with ‘The Curse of La Llorona’ and the Spanish story ‘La Caza: Monteperdido’ to create Lost: Casa Perdida. Lost was the name I came up with for the series of similar novels that I plan to write. Casa Perdida is the name I have for a fictional house built by the Spaniards in the Bolivian Jungles, which is rumored to be haunted. That’s how I came up with the plot and title.

10. Is there anything else you would like to say to the audience ?

Well I'd say read as much as you can. You can never become a great writer until you are a great reader! You can't give out what you don't receive yourself.
