"I should have brought something to do," I sighed, as I sat in the empty field. Reginald wasn't here, but I was willing to give him time to show up.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket growing increasingly bored. There wasn't much I did on it, since I wasn't really a fan of the growing technology. I was still stuck in the past where these kinds of things weren't even thought of. The only reason I had a phone in the first place was so Althar could contact me if he needed to get a hold of me immediately. If it had been up to me, I wouldn't even have one. I didn't need it so it was just a waste of money, in my eyes anyways. Others in the Awakened used theirs on a regular basis, but most of us never even touched it.
"I didn't know you had a phone," Reginald commented as he walked up to me. I didn't know why, but I was relieved he was here. I guess I just thought that he wasn't going to show up after what happened yesterday.
"I think most people have a phone now-a-days," I sighed good manneredly, shoving it back into my pocket. "I don't use it much, so that's probably why."
"Makes sense," He said, sitting down beside me. I turned my leg so I was looking at him.
"I want to apologize for how Volkun spoke to you yesterday. I felt so bad afterwards and couldn't stop thinking about it."
"Alena, I already said it was okay. Volkun just doesn't like me, and that's okay. Some people just can't bring themselves to trust others, and I can live with that."
"So you're not mad?"
"Seriously?" He looked at me, a chuckle in his voice. "Of course not. It's not like you could've done anything." I let out a breath that I didn't realize I had been holding. My formerly tense shoulders relaxed with relief at Reginald's words. "Now, with that out of the way, do you want to go for a walk today? I don't know about you but I could definitely use one."
"Why not," I shrugged. It probably would be smart, considering that Volkun might come looking for me here. Standing up, I let Reginald take the lead.
"Anywhere you want to go in particular?" He asked as we walked out of the field. We walked towards where I had entered.
"Not really, just lead the way." I shrugged. The only thing with us going for a walk was that I was going to have to make sure we didn't get too deep into the High Dragon's territory. I didn't know exactly where the boundaries were, only that they were in the upper side of town. As long as Reginald and I stayed near the outskirts or in the Awakend's side, I would be fine. In addition, I didn't know if Volkun was still wandering town looking for me, so I would have to keep an eye out for him.
We walked down the road in silence. It was almost like Reginald knew that I preferred a person's company over talking to them.
"So, if I wanted to contact you, how would I go about doing that?" Reginald asked. I could tell it took a lot of courage to ask me that question, but he had done it.
"Besides a phone number, I also have an email," I shrugged.
"If you're okay with it, do you mind if I have your number? I just know that I would enjoy talking to someone outside of my family and I think that it would benefit the both of us, so...." Reginald trailed off, looking in front of us rather than me as he spoke.
"Sure. It would definitely help me if I was able to talk to someone outside of the family." Reginald smiled as he pulled his phone out of his pocket and unlocked it. He handed it to me and I typed my contact info in. I followed his feet as I typed, making sure I didn't run into others or crash into anything. As soon as I was done, I handed it back to him.
"It's all in there."
"Thanks," Reginald said, doing something on his phone before tucking it away. A buzz emitted from my pocket. I pulled it out just enough to see that an unknown number had sent a simple happy face. Showing it to Reginald, he confirmed that the number was his.
