After a long day of exploring Bokugyo, the squids were all extremely tired. They all headed back to the temple. Specs was talking to Marie about this bookstore in the town, that's where Marie got all of her books. Callie was complementing the new outfits that Marie bought for Headphones and Bobble and at the back of the group was Goggles and Rider, still holding hands. They didn't notice that they hadn't stopped holding hands the whole time, Goggles didn't want to let go though, Rider's hand was warm and soft, surprisingly, a nice contrast to his own scales. Bobble turned around
"You two are still holding hands" she said with a smile. Goggles and Rider looked down to see that, yes, they were still holding hands
"I don't care." Rider said as he shrugged. Headphones giggled and they all made their way inside
"So, we've decided where you will all be sleeping. Bobble and Headphones, you two with stay with Callie and I. Specs, Goggles and Rider, you will be staying in the spare room. There are clothes for you to change into when you get there. Once you change, make your way back down here and dinner should be prepared" Marie said with a slight smile on her face
"I'll lead you three to the room!" Callie said with a smile. She ran off down the hallway, the three boys following close behind as Marie lead Bobble and Headphones to their room. Callie left to her room once the boys were lead to the spare room. Goggles ran inside and face planted onto the bed, nuzzling his face into the pillow. Rider sat down on the bed next to Goggles and stretched
"It's good to be back here in Bokugyo..."
"Oh, that's right! You used to live here!" Goggles said as he sat up. Specs sat down
"Yeah, I did. Then I left to study magic in Houzuki. This is just rehashing stuff you already know. I've got a question about you Goggles. You used to be an inkling, right? What happened to you?"
"Well... I don't exactly remember... it was about a month ago when I went into the woods to get some materials for my parents..."
Goggles was walking through the woods, wind blowing through his hair. He was looking for some things that his parents requested for him to find when he came across an octoling who seemed to be frustrated by some magic
"Hello? Are you okay there?" He asked the Octoling. The Octo jumped
"A-ah! Who are you?! Are you here to take me to your dastardly king?!"
"What? No no! I'm just here looking for some things. I'm Goggles! What's your name?"
"I'm Hachi, nice to meet you" Hachi said with a nervous smile
"You look troubled, what's wrong?"
"Well, I've been trying to perform the magic in this book, I know I'm not an inkling, but I'd still like to try it out..."
"Well, what are you trying to do?"
"Transformation magic"
"You can test on me if you like!"
"Are you sure?"
"Of course! Anything to help you out!"
"Well okay..."
"And you can probably figure what happened from there" Goggles explained
"You ran into an octoling?! And he did this to you?!" Specs yelled
"I'm not angry at him, I mean, I'm awesome now!" Goggles said with a smile. Rider sighed and took off his jacket before taking off his shirt. His whole body was covered in scars that Goggles couldn't help but stare at
"W-what are you doing?!" Goggles sputtered out
"I'm... getting changed?" Rider said with a confused look on his face
" I changed while Goggles was talking" Specs said as he lied on his bed, reading the book he got today in the market, it was all about Bokugyo's rich and extensive history. Goggles covered his eyes
"O-okay, you can get changed now!" Goggles said, extremely flustered, blushing deeply
"You know, we are all guys, you don't have to look away" Rider reassured. Goggles nodded and uncovered his face, mostly. He pulled his knees up to his chest and like that for a bit. Goggles couldn't help but admire every little part of Rider's body, taking in the sights
"I said you didn't have to turn away but you also don't have to stare." Rider said as he snapped his fingers in front of Goggles' face
"Ah! S-Sorry!"
"Nah, it's fine. Just kinda embarrassing."
"I was embarrassing you?"
"I'm... not used to being stared at."
"I'm sure you've had people staring at you before! I mean, why wouldn't they? You're hot- I-I mean- crap-" Goggles noticed what he said and watched as Rider's face went bright red
"W-what?!" He yelled. Goggles looked away
"Shit-" He squeaked. Rider sat down next to him
"Is there... something you aren't telling me?" Rider asked. Goggles looked away, blushing wildly. Marie walked in
"Dinner's ready" Everyone turned to look at her
"Bad time?"
"Definitely not!" Goggles said as he stood up and rushed out of the room. Specs put a bookmark in his book and left it on his bed, leaving to go to dinner. Rider sighed
"Hey, what's up?" Marie asked softly
"A lot of things really."
"Wanna talk about it?"
"Nope. Let's just go." Rider said as he stood up and left the room. Everyone sat around the table, almost everyone had changed into the provided clothes. Goggles looked up to see Rider before immediately looking down and blushing brightly again. Callie giggled at Goggles' actions. Marie was talking to Gramps about something. Headphones, Bobble and Specs were all talking about something and Rider was sitting down next to Goggles
"Rider, I'm so sorry about before. I don't know what I was-"
"No no, it's fine" Rider said as he smiled, his face slightly flushed too. Blazer walked into the room
"And dinner.. is served!" She said in a dramatic voice before leaving. Everyone started to eat dinner in silence before Callie spoke up
"You don't have to be quiet you know, you can talk!"
"Oh good. I would've lost it if I couldn't talk!" Goggles said with a smile. Everyone laughed at his comments except Rider, who was busy eating
"So, any plans for after dinner?" Bobble asked as she put food onto her plate
"Well, you all showed up just in time because there is a festival starting tonight. Usually, Houzuki joins in on the festivities with us but due to the recent tragedy, they won't be joining us this time, it's a shame, the festival usually brings us together" Gramps said as he kicked his frail legs back and forth, much like Callie always did
"Festival?" All of the Blue squids said in unison. They didn't know much about festivals, basically all they knew was festivals celebrate certain things that were special to inkling culture. Marie and Callie smiled
"Yeah! It's gonna be great! Marie and I are going to be performing one of the sacred songs, Shiokara- Bushi, tonight!" Callie said excitedly as she stood up
"Callie, sit down." Marie scolded as she face palmed. All of the other inklings looked at each other excitedly. Everyone had soon finished dinner and were now all getting ready for the festival
