James POV
(James is in his dormitory before break fest.)
I feel really bad about what happened at the tree yesterday. I mean, not what I did to Severus, I'll never regret that, but what happened to Lilly. It's all my fault . Leave it to me, James Potter, to make a girl cry when they are trying to impress her.

"James" someone says inturuping his thoughts.

My head snaps up. It's Sirius. "Yeah".

Sirius leans on the bed post to my bed. "Ok first of all, your tidying, you haven't tidied since the day before the first year exams. Second your late to breakfast, you have NEVER been late to breakfast. So what's on your mind? 'Cause it's cramping my style.

"Nothing man, I'll be there in a sec." I say as Sirius roles his eyes.

Fast forward to Transfiguration.

Lily POV
I am late to Transfiguration because I had to take the long way to avoid Snape and his goons. Oh no, oh no, I thought. I decided maybe I would rather deal with the goons now. The only seat that was open was next to James Potter. Alice gave me a sympathetic smile as Sirius had claimed the seat by Marlene and she was sitting by Frank. It's not that I don't like James Potter, he's fine - I guess. It's that fact that he likes me. It makes me uncomfortable. I don't know how to act. And I really don't like not knowing.

He's looks up and sees me approaching his seat. "Oh hey Evans" with hardly and enthusiasm. He sounds like he's deflating.

"Hello James" I say curtly.

"Look Lily I'm really sorry."He starts whispering.

"I don't want to hear it, not now." She says in a whisper to match his own.

"Come on Evans, please!" He says desperately. "Lily I said please for you."

She starts taking notes trying to ignore him.

"Lily you know how I feel about you-"

Lily inturups him, "Oh yes Potter I expect the entire fifth year knows." She says almost hissing.

"Either way Lily, I would never intentionally hurt you. I've tried apologizing, what else do you want me to do? He says pleadingly

I think for a moment, he looks so desperate. Maybe I should just forget it all and put him out of his misery.

"Fine James, I forgive you, only under the pretense that I think you'll explode or I will die of old age before you leave me alone about it."

A smile spreads across his face. "Of course Evans." He smiled the rest of the period despite her coldness.
