See my life isn't exactly difficult. Besides the fact that no one knows my real name beside the gang. Arabella is a name my brother used to call me until he died. We told him to run. He froze. Bang. After a while you learn to never show how you feel. Unless it's anger.
"Hey you" I hear and turn to see Lily. We jump off our boards and She hugs me and smiles "you okay?" I ask seeing her face drop "Yea dad said that I'm on gun duty" she sighs lowering her voice as we skated past some people "I know you hate g/d (gun duty) but you need to know how to use it." She sighs "what do you have today?" She asks "same as you" I say blandly
"Come on lets go" she says and we both skate faster.

"Finally schools out." Lily groans as we walk through the crowded halls.
I slam my locker shut after grabbing my board "school drags on" she complains "that's because it's school." I say and she glares at me "calm down shorty" I smirk "I'm 5'3" she says giving me a dirty look "my point exactly. I'm 5'6 now shush we have shit to do"  I say and we skate off to the apartment.

"Sorry we are late" I say and they all nod I hug everyone except Nate. What? I'm a bitch. "Right you all know what to do. Go." My dad growls. Me and lily go into the other room and she picks up a gun. "Ok here" I say and hand her some headphones "when or if you use these outside of this room you won't have them. It will make you ears ring but it will soon pass. Try with them and then without them. Always aim for the chest." I tell her and she nods taking a shot at the dummy ahead of us "damn you have a good shot" I say and she smiles taking off the headphones.

We practiced for hours. (Not just with guns they fought as well) "lily make sure to always keep an eye out behind you. One person sneaks up behind you and your dead." Says my father. "You are done lily. Now arabella I need you and Nate to scope out the knights." He says and I nod not even bothering to argue.
"Nate come on or I'm leaving without you." I yell and he comes in, leaving beside me.

"5 guards outside, 4 on the roof, there's men watching every window and there's about 6 dogs just outside." I say to my father as I cook dinner for him and my family "Hm seems like someone's nervous" he grunts
"You did well Bella" he says and I smile slightly "thanks I guess" I plate it up and he walks over to me and hugs me, "I love you you know that" I just nod "I love you too" we pull apart and he gets mum and I get maya and we all eat. "Mum?" Maya says backing away slowly. I look at her to see her shaking "shit. Maya grab my phone and call an ambulance!" I yell and she nods quickly doing it my dad runs in and helps me put her on her side. "Their on there way"
Within 4 minutes they are there "we need to get her to the hospital. Her vitals are low." He says and I nod. "Girls you go in the ambulance I'll drive ok" says dad we both nod and go.

I sit there. Watching the heart line go up...down. Matching my breaths to the heartbeat of my mother. My sister laying in the chair fast asleep. God I wish she didn't have to see this. It's been an hour and dad still hasn't showed up so I guess he's busy. I stand up and wake my sister up "I'm gonna go home you coming?" I ask in a low voice, she shakes her head and I nod.
I leave the room and sigh "hey you" I hear and turn to see Lily's mum. She's not apart of the gang but she knows I am, she helps with the wounded. "Maya wants to stay" I say and she nods "I guessed" she responds "I'm gonna head home" I say as she nods "your mum should wake up soon" "what if she doesn't?" I ask. To be fair I don't know why I asked that. "I don't know" she asks "at least your honest." I say I hug her, thank her and leave. I told her I'll bring someone clothes for maya in the morning. I needed to know why my father didn't have the nerve to show his face when his wife needed him. I needed him. Maya fucking needed her dad.

I walk into the cold, dim house "father" I say. No response. I turn on the lights and look everywhere. Nothing. I see a note on the table.
"Arabella. I'm sorry. You never knew that when I hugged you that was me saying goodbye. I don't expect you to understand. You know I love you and maya. But having me with you is dangerous. Don't try to get ahold of me. It's not going to work. Believe me I don't want to hurt you two. Watching your mother wither away breaks me. Your gonna be okay. I promise. Just watch out for your mother and maya. I hope your not to mad...

I fall to the floor letting the tears roll down my face. I let out a scream, gripping my hair.
I stand up and pick up a photo of me, dad, mum and maya a few years ago when mum wasn't sick. I throw it at the wall watching it shatter.
Fuck you dad.
