My phone buzzing against my wood side table wakes me. I put the phone to my ear not even looking who it was. "Bella mums dying" I heard maya sobbing. I immediately jump up "I'm on my way stay there" she hangs up I jump up and get dressed.
I slip on my boots and grab my skateboard.
I skate as fast as I can to the hospital.

Running through the doors the smell of stale bleach hits me within seconds. Not caring about the people giving me weird looks I run straight up the stairs and see nurses and doctors working on mum. I see maya sobbing outside the window. I stand next to her knowing better than to touch her right now.
"Call it." We hear the doctor say
"NO NO!" Maya yells and tries to run but I hold her back "Maya stop" I say trying not to cry. She stops struggling and just falls in my arms, sobbing and screaming. As a sister you may hate your siblings but in reality you would do anything for them. Seeing and hearing my sister cry into my arms that she wants dad broke me. Knowing dad isn't coming back.

Maya went straight into her room. I asked her if she wanted anything. I guess it's gonna take a while for her to accept it. Acting strong for people is the hardest thing. I go into my bedroom closing the door behind me. I slide down the door and sob into my hands. Knowing maya will ask where's dad I'm glad I hid that note. Her mum died and her dad abandoned her. What else could happen?

I turn the shower on stepping inside
I checked on maya. She's fast sleep.

Mum wasn't always sick it hit her just over a year ago. She lost feeling in her legs and then the cancer got worse. She refused to do chemo I guess we all knew she wouldn't make it.

Looking at the razor blades something in me just couldn't look away. Bringing the blade to my wrist one after another. Watching the blood drip onto the floor. Self harm has always been a thing with me. I started at 12. So stupid. I step out of the shower knowing that water makes it bleed a lot more. (She did everything)

"Maya.." I say as I walk into her room.
"Your going to school?" She asks my heart breaks seeing how broken She looks "no I'm going to the apartment" I say "where's dad"
You can brace yourself as much as you want but when she asked that...I choked and didn't know what to say
"He left...last night when both of us were at the hospital..." I answer "fuck him." I couldn't be mad that she swore because frankly I felt the same "Yea. You wanna come with or you staying?" I ask "I wanna see jake" she says and I laugh "alright then kiddo come on" she smiles does what she needs to and then we leave.

"I'm so sorry" I hear and lily runs to me and hugs me. "Thank you" I answer
For a while I don't think Noah knew what to say but when we were alone he spat out with some mushy shit
"I'm here for you okay...I know how it feels but uh...and I know we ain't friends...but let me be here" I close my eyes and take a deep breath. "How can you leave your own daughters when your wife is in fucking hospital" I ask not caring that there is tears rolling down my face.
I drop to the floor leaning against the wall
He soon sits next to me "he's an asshole. He walked out on two amazing..people. Your gonna be okay you know that" I shake my head "no. I'm not I can't look after her" I cry knowing how dangerous that is. He wraps his arms around me and I sob into his chest clutching his shirt between my fingers. "I'm here." He says kissing my head.
