"ARE YOU A dumbfuck or are you a dumbfuck?" Jay asked, making me regret calling him. I had told him that I had did something stupid and not to scold me.
"Jay," I groaned. "Please, I called you because you were supposed to make me feel better."
"No," Jay refuted calmly, "You called me because I am your only confidant, Ali," he said simply and if he were here, I would hurl a pillow at him. But sadly, Jay was on call so all I could do was say a fuck you.
"Come on, don't be a little bitch. Comfort me, please," I pleaded and he sighed.
"I am on my way to do so but your precious pizza place is making it hard to reach there early," Jay said and I focused on the background noise. Sure enough, I could hear the noises of people. "Plus, I gotta hang up on you."
"What? Why?" I screeched.
"Because my phone has no battery," Jay said and I heard the cringe in his voice. "I was binging The Good Place and I forgot to turn on the switch after plugging my phone in the charger."
"Dammit, Mehrotra, I don't want you to hang up on me."
"Maaf karo."
"Apology not accepted," I said as I finally sat up. I arranged my pillows in a way that would make it the most comfortable to lie back on and leaned.
"Okay, fuck off. Now bye." After huffing, Jay hung up on me before I could protest. I started at the window distastefully as if glaring at it would make me feel better. My eyes drifted to the Harry Styles poster I had up on my wall. It was quite old, back from the One Direction days, but Harry's smile made me feel a little bit better.
I stared at it, hoping all my bad energy would dissipate. However, I was too sad and angry to let Harry's soft smile melt me.
Eve knocked on my door and I held up a hand as if to ask what she wanted. My anger at her had long since disappeared but she didn't know that. Nor did she need to.
"I am making popcorn. Want me to make some for you too?" she questioned and her voice was soft and considerate. My eyebrows raised to an extent that I thought they would disappear in my hairline.
"Look who is being sweet," I coed mockingly and she rolled her eyes.
Eve had stayed behind with me because she was bored of granny's house. It had been a day since mom left for granny's house. A day since I ran out on Noah. And I had spent that day avoiding Noah and wallowing in self-pity. I was sure he disliked me now because what girl ran away from the guy she liked twice?
