NOAH AND I texted all night, we didn't talk about what happened except agreeing that what happened was wonderful. We talked about everything and nothing. It felt wonderful. The feeling in my stomach was welcome as butterflies flew all around.
It would make sense that I was late the other morning. If it weren't for my damned sister blasting her rock songs early in the morning, I would have kept snoring off. I didn't even realize that I had turned off my alarm the other night. Why and how were beyond me. Haphazardly, I took a shower that hardly helped but I drenched myself in somebody spray that I stole from Eve's dresser.
"Eve, can you put all of my clothes in the laundry and tidy up my room? I'll owe you so hard," I told her as I was stepping out of the house. She rolled her eyes and flipped me off.
"I'll do it but pay me nicely after this," she said as she lifted her eyes from her video game for a brief second.
"Alright, thank you. Bye," I said and waved. I usually didn't care about the state of my room but granny and mom were coming home today evening. If there was anything that granny hated, it was dirty places. So it was no surprise she hated my room. Since it would be her first day back home, I wanted to make her feel welcome and not piss her off.
Pissed off granny was unhappy and very scary.
I did not want to deal with that.
A few minutes after I had opened the bakery, the doorbell chimed and I spun on my heel, expecting Sarah and Marty but imagine my surprise when I saw Noah in his morning glory. His hair looked like he had just rolled out of bed which I had no doubt he did. And while he definitely looked like he had showered, his sleepy eyes said otherwise.
But he had a flower bouquet in his hand--white daisies--that he handed to me once he got close to me. I didn't realize that I had frozen in my place.
"Hello, you," he whispered.
"Hi, you," I said, a smile spreading over my face on its own. "Who are these flowers for?" I questioned, knowing they were for me but I wanted to hear it. My heart, as usual, started beating erratically when he smiled, a full blown smile that had me weak in my knees.
I set aside the broom in my hand and leaned back over the wall.
"You see, there's this girl that kissed me yesterday. She's quite amazing and I thought I would let her know how amazing she is. Especially after she has given me a green signal. Can you guess who she is?" he prompted as if I had no idea who he was talking about. But his teasing was only more endearing.
