One year later...
You woke up to the sound of footsteps outside your room. You quietly got out of bed and pressed your ear against the door.
"Be quiet! She might hear you!"
"She won't mind because I'm her favorite!"
"Nuh uh! I met her first, so I'm her favorite by default!"
"I know it's not meeeeee..."
"Would you all be quiet? She cares about all of us, and that's what matters."
"Ugh, alright..."
You quickly got back into bed and pretended to fall asleep. You heard your door open, followed by the sound of multiple people attempting to approach your bed as quietly as possible.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" You opened your eyes to see three boys and a girl with a cake that looked like it had been randomly slapped together. The red haired boy, Masaru, blew into a party horn.
"Wow. Thanks, guys." You said as you looked down at the cake that was now placed into your lap.
"Hey, hey! Be careful! You could've touched her!" Said the sole girl of the group, Kotoko, who might've been more opposed to the idea of someone touching you than you ever were.
"Kotoko, it's okay." You insisted. While it would still take a long time for you to ever be fully okay with touching people, you were now able to tolerate it for a couple of seconds.
"Even if I did it...?" Jataro was a boy who didn't have the greatest self-esteem in the world, to put it lightly. It took you over a month to convince him that you didn't hate him.
"Yes, even if you did it." You said.
"Well, go on! Eat the cake we made!" Masaru insisted.
"I'll eat it later. I mean, what's the point of breakfast if I can't share it with you?" You asked.
"...(Name) makes a good point. Besides, if she eats sugar this early in the morning, she could get sick." Said Nagisa, the second child you met during the events in Towa City besides Kotoko. If Kotoko wasn't the one who worried over you the most, it was him. Albeit, he was more subtle about it.
"You're the one who woke us up to make this cake in the first place, Nagisa!" Masaru yelled.
"Yeah!" Kotoko crossed her arms and pouted.
"Guys, we can just eat it later. Now can you please go so I can get dressed?" You said. After the kids left with the cake, you proceeded with your morning routine. It was when you were in the middle of brushing your hair that you got a notification on your laptop that someone wanted to video chat with you.
"Happy birthday, (Name)." Chiaki's digital face popped up on the screen as soon as you accepted the call.
"Thanks. How are you?" You asked.
"I'm fine. So are the others. We all miss you a lot, though." Chiaki said. Both of your expressions dropped.
"I miss you guys too." You said.
"You're finally getting a heart transplant next week, right?" Chiaki attempted to change the subject. You nodded.
"Yeah. I've contemplated it for a while because my... current heart doesn't have any problems aside from its previous owner. But I think I'll feel a lot better once I get it off my chest... literally." You said.
"I see. And how's therapy?" Chiaki asked.
"It's fine. I mean, sharing a therapist with the kids I'm looking after was kind of odd at first, but I'm used to it now." You said.
"Alright. Um... some of the others want to talk to you. Should I let them?" Chiaki asked.
"Can you be more specific?" You asked.
"Ibuki, Hajime, Mikan, and... although he was very reluctant at first... Nagito wants to speak to you too." Chiaki said. You paused. Was this really a good idea? You took a deep breath. You'd find out whether or not you'd regret this later.
"Okay. I want to talk to them. All of them."
(Welp. Here we are. I really have no idea what to talk about now that we're finally at the end. I'm... shocked, I guess? I know some of you may not be satisfied with how this ended, but I'm personally not a fan of yandere stories where the protagonist is like "oh, I loved you the whole time" and forgets all the horrible shit the yandere did. So, I'm leaving the story on this more ambiguous note. Thank you for reading this, and please, if you ever find someone you like, do not use my books as advice. Goodbye.)
