"i mean it's obvious right?" john b asked.

"totally," flo rolled her eyes, trying to read her book as the friends cruised down a backroad.

"a family heirloom. what better place to hide a message?" john b continues, "he had to know it was gonna get back to me right?"

flora sat on the floor between jj's legs as he played with her hair. he added braids into her ponytail. braids that he only knew how to do for flora. jj then lowered his hand to her shoulder and reached it over her chest, and she grabbed it. he smiled to himself and looked back at his other friends, eyes locking on pope's, whose face sported a smirk at the interaction between the two.

jj jumped back into the conversation trying to ignore the fact that pope caught him in such a state, "hey, he could've been kidnapped. that's definitely a possibility."

"yea, he could be in a soviet sub getting interrogated by the kgb somewhere." pope agreed. he looked back to flora who was still reading. she wore a peach tie-dyed cropped tank that she'd made herself and light-wash denim shorts. she had on two gold necklaces, the same ones jj got her for her birthday a year ago, the same ones she wore every day without fail. pope was a little jealous. it wasn't that he liked flora or anything but the fact that jj and flora were so obviously connected to each other made him wish he could have that too. even if half of the pair was still figuring out her newfound feelings toward her best friend.

jj had always been kind of awkward when it came to showing affection. there had been certain times when his overflowing love for his friends became awkward. maybe it was because they just didn't get it or maybe it was just that he didn't know how to express himself.

when flora came along though, she got it. she even explained it to pope multiple times. jj couldn't fathom how the kook spy out of everyone was the person that understood him the most. flora got it though. she'd seem uncommunicated love before. she'd seen the struggle of trying to convey emotions and how damaging they could be if unresolved. so, she lead by example in hopes that jj would notice her efforts to help. and boy, did he.
