"There's nothing wrong with you liking me."
----
Rrrring!
Kihyun instantly shut his chrome book. He hadn't needed to worry about saving any work, as instead of spending the last 45 minutes of class typing--like he should have--he had instead spent it thinking about how he was going to act on his car ride with Changkyun. His thoughts consumed every minute that was meant to be spent on work, and as the school day ended with an ear-piercing ring, he had come to just one conclusion.
He would forget.
As they drove down the many winding roads of the world, he would forget: forget that he had feelings for Changkyun, forget that he had to make Minhyuk happy, forget about life and his painful reality. He would act like he was only a friend and would forget that just the sight of the male's dimples sent his heart aflame. He would be happy and enjoy the time he got to spend with Changkyun, and when it was over... when it was over, only then would he remember.
"Ready?" Changkyun asked in his deep, melodious voice, setting his hand on the other's shoulder. His eyes were already expectant.
So with a fabricated smile, Kihyun forced his attention away from the throbbing beat of his heart to the sensation of his shoes encasing his toes. Forget, he had to forget; there was nothing else he could do. "Yeah, just let me put this back in the cart, then I'll be ready to go." He stood up from his assigned seat and walked towards the chrome book cart, "forgetting" that Changkyun's hand had been set on his shoulder and had slid off as he got further away. With it went all the warmth in his body.
"Okay, I'm ready," Kihyun said with only a scintilla of optimism.
"Let's go?"
"Yeah."
The two high school students, not even a shoulder's width apart, traveled down the only hall that their school had, towards the double-doored exit, where the bus picked up kids that lived far away. Normally, Kihyun was one of those kids, but not today; today, he was a kid who was going on a ride with his friend. It was as simple as that.
Both of them made their way through the dusted parking lot, towards Changkyun's car. The automobile obviously wasn't the most extravagant thing ever, but it was still something that would get them from place to place safely; and to take a drive with just two people, just two friends, it was more than enough.
Kihyun silently hopped into the passenger seat, heaving his binder into the back. He became pleasantly surprised to find that the inside of the car was clean. There was no trash hidden in the back nor in the front, just as there were no crumbs from left over food, either. It was the cleanest car he had seen in a while. "Nice," he found himself murmuring, quite intrigued at the sight.
"What's nice?" Changkyun smoothly slid into the driver's seat, already watching, maybe even studying, Kihyun with those piercing eyes of his. He must have been aware of the fact that his eyes were one of the most attractive things about him.
"Uh..." The older male's poor heart surged, yet then he remembered that he was supposed to be forgetful of his feelings, so he shamefully looked away. To get the attention off the fact he had avoided eye contact so quickly, he gestured to the interior surrounding them. "This. It's so clean."
