Claire POV

Apparently there is an on set doctor who rushes to the arena and gives the two of us a lift back to the studio.

“Charlie, are you okay man.” Reese asks as soon as we arrive at the studio.

“Dude we are live in an hour.” Barclay exclaims.

“I’m fine guys. Claire just over reacted.” Charlie says causing me to glare at him. Lauren walks into the room to warm up too.

“Good luck boys.” she says going to a make-up chair. I decide to follow her to the makeup counter.

“Lewis wanted to come back ya know.” I say trying to make conversation.

“Yeah. I know, I really enjoyed having him here with me.”

“Yeah.”  I don’t know what else to say. She has always like Lewis more than me, but she was still a great sister. I was no ones favorite.

“My throat is killing me.” Lauren mutters.

“Are you okay?” I ask.

“I’m sure I am, I have just been practicing alot thats all.” I nod as a guy with a headset comes around yelling five minutes.

“You can go to the audience seating or you can stay backstage but if you want audience seating you should go now.

“I’ll stay backstage.” I say.

“Lauren.” Cheryl calls coming into view. “is this your lovely sister?” She asks shaking my hand. “Claire right?” She asks.

“Yeah.” I nod.

“Well the Platt family is an adorable bunch.” She smiles brightly down at me. “Well Lauren you have to be on deck okay.” Lauren nods and I leave the room to a corner where they would be entering the stage.

I watch as performer after performer gets on stage and off the stage. When its finally Laurens turn I am extremely excited t actually see her preform. Yeah I have heard her sing… A LOT, but now is different. It’s live and it matters. She gets on stage and the second she starts singing she sounds horrible. I am freaking out and I can tell by her expression that she can tell she was screwed up too.  Her voice is cracking and she is singing out of tune. She gets through the song, I can tell she is barely able keep herself together as she gets the comments from the judges. The second she gets backstage she burst into tears. I run up to hug her and some of the other contestants do too.

“You got good feedback.” I try to encourage. The judges were saying how impressed they were she didn't complain about her sore throat. I’m pretty sure that is good.

“Its okay Lauren. People will still vote for you because they know how hard you have worked and how you worked through and illness. I feel her sobs quite down and I release her from the hug because my shoulder is wet and probably has mascara on it. I swipe at my shoulder.

“It’s waterproof.” Lauren says. I have never heard her voice so hoarse before.

“What is?”

“My mascara, it isn't on your shirt so you can relax.” She laughs a little but it sounds more like a sob. The rest of the acts perform and the show is over.

We are in the girl room that consists of me, Lauren, and Fleur. Fleur is really cool, she is like the sister that you can tell anything to. I think I might even trust her more than Lauren. Fleur keeps pointing out the actual god of Laurens performance while Laurens pick out the rest.

“Just rest girlies.” Fleur sighs. “I promise you you are okay, just go to sleep so you can see for yourself in the result show tomorrow.” Fleur lays down in her bunk. I call a top one because I have always wanted one and there are plenty so I don’t have to argue with Lauren on which one.

First thing it the morning I am dragged along, at 4 am may I add, to follow Lauren to the studio. She sounds a lot better today though. All the acts practice a song together and they rehearse their save me songs on the stage for their mentors. I sit in the audience behind Cheryl and watch as the people sing. Lauren sounds a lot better today when she sings and Cheryl seems quite proud of her.

“Hi.” I deep voice whispers in my ear causing me to jump.

“Hi Charlie.” I smile before paying attention back to Lauren.

“How’d we do yesterday?” He asks sitting next to me.

“I thought you boys did great.” I answer honestly. Charlie flashes a really bright smile my way.

“Thank, it means allot. The competition is getting really hard now.”

“I’m pretty sure you’ll do great.”

“Wanna go out for lunch with me and the boys?” he asks rubbing the back of his neck. “Lauren can come of course, I mean, we’d love for you guys to join us, but if you can’t, it’s still fine.”

“I’ll see if Lauren wants to go, but you can count me in.” I reply finally deciding to end his misery.

“Okay. We’ll go when Lauren is finished, text me when you ready to go Tomm’s driving.” I nod and continue to watch Cheryl instruct Lauren. I feel Charlies presence behind me for a while before he leaves. When I am sure he left I turn around and watch him walk off.
